We got it back up to 12-13 with him at point too. He looks really timid right now, especially when he drives to the basket. Last season he was able to penetrate the lane and wreak havoc on the defenses. He had a good number of assists, and set up Bud nicely a good number of times (which Bud proceeded to miss.) I'm encouraged by his progress. Lowry is on a absolute tear right now though. I doubt Brooks will be back in the starting lineup as long as Lowry is healthy.
I'm saying in todays NBA you need a good defender at the point with all of these great PGs. If you can stop them from running plays it is effective and causes more turnovers rather than assists. Out of every position the PG is most involved with the pick and roll. Of course you need someone to protect the rim, but cutting players off is more effective. It forces jumpers which means less free throws and foul trouble. It is more simple than you think. Just watch the Rockets lately. They've managed to win games without much interior defense. The only lay ups/dunks come from bigs.
I first noticed it in 3d qtr of lakers game when km went off for 13 pts. They also run the same play for Lee.
i keep hearing that they showed us after the game? could someone take a clear screenshot and send it to me? if not I've asked IMF already since he usually records the HD broadcasts of the game
oh yeah its a bit large so will spoiler it but Brad after the game looked like he was going to go hunting again Spoiler edit: the kid in front of my and his older brother were season ticket holders for the clippers (i think the clippers allow certain season tix holder to get these passes every once in a while) anyway his older brother had a clippers hat and warmup shirt on and asked for a pic and Brad goes "c'mon the clippers shirt and all what is this? really?" he still took a picture with him anyway though but it was funny
Brooks is VERY fast and able to get in the lane but his ability to do something when he gets there is unimpressive. That was the case last year. His best asset is getting off the 3 ball at a pretty good %.
Confused by the Brooks comments, just looking at the stat line. Play under 20 minutes, gets you five assists, a steal and a block against 2 turnovers. +/- of .... -1. OMG! -1! He is killing us! I'm sure he looked rusty, but our starting PG only got one more assist with nearly twice as much time on the floor. They're both working their tails off and let's just support them a little bit. Adelman will use them well. He's really amazing me with this team -- maybe some of the best coaching of his career.
*unbiased AB critique from last night* Played well on offense for the most part, made some nice passes but also had some turnovers. Shot the 3 ball very well but missed his shots in the lane. Still looks a bit rusty from the injury *biased AB critique from last night* Was terrible on defense and offense, and was the big reason we lost the lead in the 4th quarter. Played zero defense on Baron Davis and Eric Bledsoe allowing them to torch us.
Agreed. Brooks' problem is more about confidence at this point. He looks a little unsure and has dribbled himself into trouble. Once he gets his feel for the game back, he'll be fine, whether he starts or comes off the bench.
Knowing the capability of Rockets' medical staff and the luck of Rockets, I have to say that AB is done as a starter. AB will never be able to recover his speed, just like Landry never recovered his explosiveness.
Bad knees that need surgery are significantly worse than a sprained ankle that heals on its own. AB should be able to get the speed back. Atm though, Ishmael is way faster than him.
I agreee, that´s why it is always widely said DEFENSE STARTS AT THE PERIMETER....... Brooks-Martin as the pair of guards, no matter how much offensive talent they have combined, was a recipe for the disaster..... Evenm Battier seemed to be failing, but it was because he was overloaded at D.....
If we just look at the stat line, everyone would be screaming "Griffin is so awesome!" instead of praising Chuck's amazing D.
