Scola shouldnt have been that close. Doesn't matter if it was a foul or not because refs will still call it, like tonight. Just put your hand up like Lee and Miller have been doing.

    you're finally getting it!

When did I blame him directly? I blamed him and Bud for most of the collapse, due to their awful plays and poor defense.

Those are basic plays that all PG's are suppose to make. The fact that Brooks does not make them typically is a bad thing. If he can consistently penetrate and dish out, I wouldn't be so hard on him. Brooks penetrates with the intention of getting his shot off, usually with that step back jumper. Lowry penetrates with the intention of drawing the D to dish to someone open. Watch the video in this thread. Lowry penetrates off the high pick and watches the D. As soon as the D committed to closing in, he passed it right to Scola for the long mid-ranged J. He had no intention of scoring there unless they left him wide open. He was looking for that executed play for an easy bucket.

When Brooks gets his legs back, he'll look much better. Right now, he's only good for setting up his teammates and putting up 3s. It's a good thing his 3-point shot is falling.

OTOH I'm not sure if Brooks and Miller can coexist in the second unit. It's early but Miller's high post game seems more restrained ever since Brooks came back, probably because Brooks needs to have the ball in his hands more than, say, Lee.

Anyway, an ugly but gritty win to get a road-trip sweep, which cannot be easy to do regardless of the opponents. The Rockets have now fought all the way from a 0-5 start to one game from a .500 record.

oh i completely agree, for brooks to make that next step to become an elite pg he needs to do this consistently. im just saying ppl need to stop saying he sucks, cause i know for a fact that these are the same ppl who were on his tip for the last few seasons.

Yeah, typically... he started in both New Jersey and Orlando. Rockets shop doesn't carry Lee, so you're going to have to shell out some dough to get the jersey via NBA.com.

He doesn't suck as a player. He simply sucks now. When he is speedy and consistently scoring, I love him. I just don't think he should start. If Yao was still here and healthy, I would agree that AB should start for the simple reason that AB plays a perimeter game that does not overlap much with Yao's interior game. Lowry on the other hand would have to penetrate in, and that will clog the paint for Yao. Without Yao, we lost whatever shot altering presence we had until Hill began emerging. With a complete lack of interior D, that means there is no way in hell that AB and Martin can coexist, due to that huge gaping void on D those two leave. That means Scola's pathetic interior D is exposed. With Lowry, our team offense is much more smooth and efficient and I can expect great improvement in interior D.

sure thats a valid point but i much prefer have brooks and lee as a starting backcourt, trading martin for a legit superstar who can legitimately close a game out. im not sold on martin just yet, i mean i know the guy can shoot lights out, but for the most part he is a disappearing act in the 4th. (and i know im going kinda off topic)

Why trade Martin over Brooks? Brooks role is a scorer. If we get a superstar, that will be our scorer. Martin is a much better complement to superstars than Brooks will ever be. A starting back court of Lowry and Martin would complement a superstar much better with Lowry dishing and Martin curling off screens for easy shots as well as create spacing with his range. Brooks NEEDS the ball to be effective. Why on earth would you want a ball dominating PG if we ever get our superstar?

Dorsey was a project then. The rockets already had hayes, landry, and scola with yao coming off another season ending injury and deke mulling retirement. How was dorsey a win now move? He was a 25 yr old,6'6 project.

    LOL

Lowry needs the ball in his hands wayyyy more than Brooks.

Give it a rest, the agenda is tired at this point.

The difference is that when the ball leaves Lowry hands, it will go to a teammate usually. When the ball leaves AB's hands it usually flies towards the rim. You should take your own advice with your comical love for Brooks.
