Dirk or Chandler. Either or. Just read tonight: Chandler has little compassion for Yao, Rockets [rquoter]DALLAS — If Houston Rockets center Yao Ming would have been healthy, Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler would have been going head-to-head against him when the two clubs meet Thursday night at American Airlines Center. ... So, does Chandler have any compassion for Yao and the Rockets? “No, none at all,’’ he said. “None at all.’’ Chandler has endured more than his share of injuries in his career. And he hopes Yao – he played five games this season -- will make a full recovery and be ready to play next season. “I just hope that medically, things work out for him,’’ Chandler said. “You hate to see a guy go out through an injury.’’ Still, Chandler won’t miss the thought of having to go toe-to-toe with Yao, who at 7-6 and 310 pounds, is an imposing figure on the court. “Yao is a beast,’’ Chandler said. “Yao is one of the toughest covers ever, because of his size. “It’s just like wrestling. You’ll be tired just wrestling him in the paint, and then he has such a soft touch.’’ Fortunately for Chandler, he won’t have to worry about “wrestling’’ Yao until next season at the earliest.[/rquoter] Little does he know about Chuckwagon and the 'wrestling match' with him
As soon as he sees on paper that he is going against 6'6, he will feel there is red carpet out there for him.... but a big surprise once the game starts
I will add that he's our best defensive option at C, even though he's only 6'6. Which says a lot about how special he is defensively (and how awful Miller/Hill are).
So does Rick Adelman: [rquoter] "He just doesn't get enough credit," Adelman said. "Last year, I couldn't understand how he didn't get any votes for defensive team. I feel the same way. He doesn't get the minutes some of these other guys do. He doesn't block shots. But he's every bit as good a defender as anybody in the league in the post." After Hayes threw a blanket over Blake Griffin, canceling the Blake Show for a night, Adelman pledged to campaign. Griffin made 5 of 16 shots, never bending a rim. "He is as good as any defender in this league in the low post," Adelman said. "I'm going to start talking to the coaches at the end of the year when they have the defensive team, if he's not on one of the defensive teams, there's something wrong. He defends ... as well as anybody. He deserves the credit for it." [/rquoter]
I know this is a little off topic, but as much as we bash Miller for his D, I always thought that he has the right mindset and IQ to play defense. the problem is , he is too slow. Also, when Miller was playing, I had a feeling that the second unit was so much better. now the bench is not as good. I hope he comes back fast .
I agree with you. Miller can't come out and handle players 15+ feet out, and he can't protect the rim either. I don't fault him for lack of effort or intelligence. He's just too slow and plodding and earth-bound to be a good defender. His offense is very much underappreciated on this board, though. The bench sorely misses him. If we're still playing to win when he returns, then it needs to be him and Patterson off the bench. Hill gets mop up duties.
I hope Rick Adelman sticks to a Brad-Pat front court once Brad returns. but i remember Adelman saying that he likes to play Hill with Brad as Brad makes hill feel comfortable on offense. so I am not sure what is going to happen.I definitely want to see Pat play a lot. at least 20 minutes a night if that is possible.
Rick finally admitted he's gonna have to play Chuck more minutes. He finally figured it out. The dude just flat out knows how to play the game.
Why are the people that are approving of the Rockets "tanking" so happy about the win? They should be bummed out and raging because the Rockets won.
