Ya it's a really bad habit. He just needs to calm down and stop trying to force things. Granted our pg's couldn't run the plays well but at the same, need to have a little more faith in them.
Great win. Landry was like Pac tonite: "Who shot me, But your punks didn't finish Now you 'bout to feel the wrath of a menace". I do think we played Landry a bit too much on his return. I think we can rest him a bit when we play Kings, use Hayes a bit. Yao dominated Dwite was awesome, but Im a bit worried that we need to find a solution when team fronts Yao. We need to have a answer, then Rockets will have a swagger where they have a unstoppable center which will then free up our shooters which is what we want. Rick needs to find the answer to that and also defend the pick and roll. The sky will be the limit, with (which will be best) or without mcgrady. Yao needs to be the piece but if we dont find a answer for that, Yao can be stopped.

I agree that you don't want Yao to be getting all of his points off offensive rebounds and mid-range shots. At the same time, it's important to take what the defense is giving you and exploit the weaknesses. This is what I see Adelman's got the team working on since their mini break, and tonight, it was extremely successful. If we consistently punish teams for fronting Yao, we're taking away that advantage.
Wait a minute, the Fronting did NOT work tonight at all, the team took great advantage of it, and drove the lane for easy baskets. If teams are going to overcommitt, you don't need to force it into Yao, drive to the basket and Yao is there to clean up the miss.... It worked like a charm.... DD
carl came up huge, offensive rebounding, hitting the 15 foot jumper, he definitely could have made a big difference in the last two weeks. it was really nice seeing him back, and producing like he hadn't missed a beat. adelman made an adjustment to his rotation by taking yao out near the end of the first quarter and the rest in the middle of the 4th quarter. i'd prefer a rest at the end of the 3rd and then early in the 4th. but its will be intereting to see how it comes together in the last 4 games of the season.
I never could understand how a player who shoots as poorly as he does could start on an NBA team. Still don't, I don't care how good he is at handling the ball. Rafer doesn't just shoot a low average, but he misses critical shoots. For example, in crunch time tonight he missed three consecutive shots.Admittedly, he has his little hot streaks, but overall, he is one of the poorest shooting guards I have ever seen in the NBA. May be a nice kid when sober, but when did nice get you a multi-million dollar contract in the NBA. Like Moochie, I wish them well if they can con so-called basketball experts out of millions of dollars, more power to them. I would have never traded for Rafer in the first place, and I would have shipped him long ago. He drove me almost as crazy as Steve Francis. Incidently, I wrote at the time that Les was out of his mind to max out Francis who made ball hogging an art before Artest even thought about it.
Thank you DD. This is the solution to fronting Yao. Not trying to find clever drawn out ways to get Yao the ball. But to use that front against them to get a good open shot. I guarantee you Adelman would trade no set plays for Yao if it meant getting a good quality shot every time down the floor. Adelman does not care how many attempts Yao gets if the defense is OVER-committing to taking him out of the play. He will tell you if the defense is cheating on Yao then there MUST be a weakness elsewhere and to exploit it.
Thing is if he is doing this against Dwight, he can definitely do this against the Lakers (with Gasol or Bynum), I don't understand why Adelman didn't let him play like that against them.
Noticed that Lowry played most of the 4th quarter again which is what I like. Brooks just started playing out of control when the Magic narrowed the gap. He panics under pressure and starts turning the ball over or he starts driving into a bunch of trees only to get his shot block. That worries me, especially during the playoffs when the intensity and pressure will be high the ENTIRE game. It's going to be up to Rick Adelman to make substitutions wisely and not when the game is too out of control. If we don't make it out he first round, I bet it will mostly be due to Brooks inexperience, Artest hard head, and Rick Adelman's incompetance.
or... Yao simply wait under the basket for the rebound Pass the ball around to the open person Drive to the basket, more often.
If they were fluke bounces over Howard's or someones head you might have a point. But when their defense gives you great position you are more likely to get that rebound. In fact you ever hear the announcers saying just get it up off the glass so that Yao can go get it when he has position??
