Wow, Shane 6/6 and Ariza 6/7 from downtown? How often can you say that this season? Nice blowout win against the Bucks to get back on the winning track.
Adelman must have something against Dorsey coz there is no reason whatever basketballwise to put in Cook before Dorsey. Adelman let him play in 2 games and he has already given up on him. I would love to know what he is thinking.
I can't stand watching Brian Cook. Usually you root for the last guy off the bench partially because you feel sorry for him, partly because you're probably winning big time when he comes in but mostly because he is usually a nice, hard-working guy who just wants to be on the court and help the team. Cook just comes off as a chubby slacker who is trying his damnedest to get himself some stats at the expense of anyone else on the team touching the rock. Worst of all, the guy flat out sucks and couldn't shoot 50% against a YMCA team. Amazing game by everyone else on the team.
Easy dude. His work ethic and attitude, simple as that. Yeah whatever, he gets his stats, good for him, but the guy is had bad practice habits, questionable motivation, and had a stuck up attitude about being sent to the D-League. I mean yeah, he is too good for the D-League but that doesn't mean play like he doesn't care as Morey basically put it. Morey was really disappointed in Dorsey's reaction to the situation. Guy's gotta pay his dues NOT with stats, but with a positive mindset and steady focus.
Not surprisingly, Aaron Brooks gets double digit assist numbers when the other starters are scoring. What is surprising, Shane Battier getting the team's other double-double on the night.
I wonder what the players on the team think in practice when Cook spots up for a 3 only to brick it all the time. I would think a part of them on the inside hurts a little and the other laughs hysterically.
Cook has shot 39.1% for his career behind the arc. That's better than any other player on our team and could be classified as elite, even for a guy who has mostly come off the bench. It's even more impressive when you consider that he's about 6'10. For comparison, Ray Allen is 39.5% for his career behind the arc. Sure, he's shot a lot more 3s but I'm not sure there is a correlation between volume and percentage as long as the volume is significant, which is the case for both Cook and Allen. Having said all that, Cook is terrible at everything else and makes Battier look athletic. If you gave him enough minutes, he'd probably shoot about 40% from distance but he wouldn't be able to defend his position or bring anything else to the table. He's not too different from Steve Novak, just a little stronger but not as good of a shooter.
