It's always about consistency. If you are allowing 2 handed push at one end, and blow the whistle at the other end in next possession for ticky-tacky contact DOWN LOW. Something really bad is going on. Yes, we get it. Yao is no Shaq, no Dream, no Moses. I agree with that whole-heartedly. (just that doesn't need to be repeated in every post about Yao) Defense will adjust to calls, that's part of the game. If you call once or twice such blatant fouls in the beginning of the game, defenders will quit doing that. The logic that if you don't allow excessive contact down-low there will be 100 fouls called doesn't hold water. Same thing as saying if someone does something constantly, he would be dead 100 times. No, he won't. He would be dead only once. By the same token, defense adjust to BS calls rewarding flopping and abusing. They would foul you harder and harder, throwing you down in front of the refs on your home court, rewarded with calls; they will hang themselves on your arms in front of the refs on your home court, rewarded with traveling call on Yao. You can spin all you want, how all great players went through that (I thought Yao was nowhere near great, why all the sudden these comparison?) But, do those great players treated the same at defensive end? Yes, I know Yao is big and slow. IT IS INDEED A CRIME. BTW, did i mention Yao is no Shaq nor Dream?
No doubt TMac starts when he returns, BUT, he better play with some energy or the fans will call for Wafer to return. Right now I would rather see Wafer running around than the TMac that was out there earlier, the one that was barely moving.
Well, Shaq is 7'1 and 325lbs, Yao is 7'6 only 310lbs. Be strong means more muscle, with only one summer Yao would be lucky to gain 5-8 lbs of pure muscle with steroids taking. Now let's assume that he's not willing to juice, so let's try HGH, which is the next best option. (And btw, no legit way to detect it unless NBA has his blood samples of before and after the HGH shot) Considering his size, and the heavy NBA schedule, he'd be lucky to gain 10 lbs of pure muscle, but that'll take about more than 1 year. So no, he'll stays the way he is. He already made a significant body change form his rookie days, which took him several years to do. With the mins he's playing right now, it'll take much longer than that to get near 320. 10 lbs of muscle is HUGE for bodybuilding.
everyone played well today, other than the horrible interior defense in the 1st half. and even though rafer took a couple of bad shots, statistically he outplayed billups. that alone should make him be entitled to some crops. oh, and did mention that traveling call on yao was THE worst at least for this year?
Our pick and roll defense was horrible, would liked to have seen a bit of weakside zone to stop it. DD
No, that's not the worst one. Remember the offense call on Yao in last game when he turned around for the rebound? Exactly the same b******t call on him fouling DH last season. I feels really sorry for the big fella that he won't go deep in playoffs until being officiated fairly .
Anyone else read the AP recap of the game? Nothing but Denver complaining with nary a mention of all the bad calls that went Houston's way. Here is an example: For a while I didn't hate George Karl so much, mostly bc his teams sucked and his once constantly-illegal defense became legal under the new rules. After this truth-distorting whining? Screw him. And as for all the bad calls that the Rockets received? Yep, not one word about it.
Does anyone else think it's unusual the Rockets are persisting with 14 players on the Roster, which left them with only 10 players available for todays game? (with JD being left the DL) I know the guys at the end of the bench don't normally get used (and Mutumbo was availale and unused today), but most teams seem to always keep 15 on the roster no matter what. Not saying it's a bad thing, just seems to go against the trend.
