I dont care if he scores alot but when your players passes you the ball twice in a single possession dont pass it back to them. Shoulder the load a lil bit. Scola and martin are only humans, we get too spoiled that when they score under 20 points we throw them under the bus and trade talks, but you hardly hear battier talk in the mess. In the heat game, I let it go, he went 2-9 shooting but its the heat I understand. Tonight was the raptors and he played worse. Lets play TW and then we talk about getting Camby or "athletic C".
Agree. Now: I thought I read between lines that Adelman was thinking in starting Brooks again, soon. I guess I must lack some english level to get those things...¿? -About Courtney, I like him, like everybody here, obvious. But an inconvenient: 32 games have been played already, and I just don't think he understands at all our possitional offense. At least right now. Just a conclusion based on some details. He's better off the ball than with the ball on his hands. It would be good to see TWill (and now I'm thinking in trade possibilities). We know Lee has some value out there, and we know that Chase is more effective defending SGs... I repeat, overall I like him.-
This. More than anything else, Battier brings stability and organization to the players on the court. He is the best shot blocker among the Rockets and he is the best at team defense. The game vs. the Heat was a prime example of why the Rockets badly need defense, and if you take Battier out the whole defense will seriously suffer. Bud, welcome back to the party.
he played the least because he still has a sore right knee from the wizards game , he said he was suprised if he could play at all.
Thats my complaint of shane offensively in a nutshell. When he just let it go,its better for the team, but when he plays scared and passes the buck, coach should just sit him down. Passing up a wide open shot is just as bad as shooting a bad shot because you just put your teammate in a bind. In regards to chase, i always felt like he is more of an answer for martin vs than shane. I think chase is more of a tweener, but i would prefer him to play the 2 vs the 3.
Funny...just got back and saw the post-game analysis thread as last thread in the GARM on the front page of the BBS, saw last poster "leebigez", and I KNEW the post would be a knock on Shane. So predictable.
As far as I can tell, Battier does not pass up open shots unless (a) there is another player with a better shot (for example, today, he passed up a wing 3 when Kyle Lowry had a open corder 3) or (b) there is plenty of time on the clock and the shot he is passing up is not a "high quality shot (for example, a long 2 instead of a 3). Also, Rockets average 111 point per 100 possessions (6th in the league), 114.3 points per 100 possessions when Battier is on the floor. Apparently Battier's shot selection has been pretty rational and his lack of shooting attempts (only 14.1 Usage %) has not hurt the team much.
Am I the only one who notices the +/- for Battier is terrible the last two seasons. We were -18 points with him in this game but I keep seeing this alot!!
