You would think winning such a big measuring-stick game like this would generate some buzz on ESPN. Holy crap, the Rockets might be decent this year! Surely, the Daily Dime must have written a nice article about the game. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-091102 Nope. Little to no mention of the victory @ Utah. All I see is a Chase Budinger quote and a highlight video. I guess ESPN felt the following was more important to cover: the freaking Knicks beating the overrated Hornets, Kevin Martin and the Kings beating the Grizzlies, Branden Jennings and the Bucks, Iverson's debut on the Grizzlies, and the Clippers' first win of the season. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
Why not? Both expiring contracts, but one guy is playing and is a low post threat and rebounder. As for ESPN, come on guys game 6 of the world series is coming up, this was game 4 of 82 during the regular season. DD
Speaking of ESPN I bet they wish they had the Rockets and Lakers Thursday instead of Miami and Washington. I guess nobody wants to see a "team" play nowadays they just want "superstars".
If the Rockets keep it up, they will be on national TV a lot in the 2nd half of the season. And Brooks will get serious recognition for how good he is... DD
I purchased the NBA Broadband League Pass and the actually showed the game on the NBA channel in Calgary. A sincere pleasure, watching the Rockets put foot to butt. No less, down the stretch when we normally fall apart after dumping the rock into Yao and watching everyone stand around. Great to see the team pushing the rock at Utah until the end of the game. 8 Players in double figures, is what Rick's offense is all about. Everyone chipping in so the defense can't focus on stopping one or two people. What I like last night * AB assist numbers are awesome * Scola with 16 boards * Ball movement * Fast breaking Utah into a coma * Closing out down the stretch
My apologies to Mr. Budinger... Young man I owe u a big time apology. All I saw was another Steve Novak in the making and I truly didn't spend time analyzing your athletic and intellectual bball skills. So let me be the first to say. KILL THEM DEAD!!!
Sadly, T-Mac coming back will get all the attention (and draw national TV games) regardless of how well he plays. The national perception is he's carrying the team to wins without Yao lol.
A little more acknowledgement coming from the BSPN guys...... http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/rockets_rout_jazz_11396_2009_11_03.html Great win by the Rockets!
To be fair, Heat vs Wizards is still a pretty good matchup. Heat has Wade and they're off to a good start. Wiz playing well and there is intrigue to Arenas coming back. I don't think they're exactly regretting the game they chose to broadcast.
Post Game Comments! from the other side. http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_13700148 "That's not winning basketball, that's just taking your paycheck and going home," Sloan said, adding of the Rockets, "That's basketball at its best, and they showed us what it's like." http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=304&sid=8535886 "Video of Utah's local news taking about the loss" http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705341700/Jazz-power-forwards-MIA.html "Obviously, we overlooked the talent level that they had out there," said Millsap of the Rockets. "Those guys can play — otherwise they wouldn't be in the league. We just need to put this behind us." "I don't think we took them lightly. They just took it too us," said Boozer. "They played hard. ... We couldn't get any stops and couldn't make too many shots either, so it just snowballed into a big deficit." http://connect2utah.com/content/sports/story/?cid=60092 Another Video from Utah's local news.
Chuck and Luis were insane defensively. Boozer couldn't get that jumper going with Hayes' hands in his face and wasn't faring any better in the low post. Luis was not only helping inside, but chased Okur off the three point line all night. It was beautiful, especially since Boozer usually kills us.
Where did he refute that statement? What he said is true, when you're playing 7 games against the same person, that's where they really have time to scout your team and bring you down.
I particularly enjoyed listening to j*zz fans booing their own at the end of game. It made my heart happy.
