The Rockets organization and Rockets fans all across the country would rejoice. We would have one roster slot available and $21 million per year find someone to fill it.
U know I agree with a lot of what u say, but I think its one of those things where he's resigned to this. No matter what he do in the regular season, he's judged on his playoff success or failures. He can and should play hard all the time. The nba is a privilege , not a right and it should be treated as such, but just as last year in the playoffs, it doest matter what he do until he wins and go deep. So I think he's just conserving until the playoffs. I don't think that's right because its unfair to the other players that play hard and put it on the line, but the rules are different and we know. No one is calling Yao,Shane,Rafer, or chuck hayes "losers" eventhough none of those guys have won anything either. Jimmy Johnson said he treats players different, but he's fair. The better, more important you are to the team, the more rope you get. That's not fair, but its the truth. Its part of the reason Shaq and Kobe had problems in La. Kobe could go full throttle every game in the regular season, but shaq got surgeries late so he could miss games and be fresh for the playoffs. The differnce is shaq has rings and was dominant and tracy hasn't been out the 1st rd.
It's already half way through the season and some people don't want him to be so good at coasting anymore.
I'll put you and his posts together even if its not accurate, and say McGrady's interested in the other stuff cuz it takes his mind AWAY from his futility and hard luck. Like Darfur, women & all the other interests... Itd be quite depressing if he sat down and thought about all the past series ending playoff press conferences and explanations he's had to give. He should come back stronger each year and try to get the best record in the league with the best health, but can understand if he'd want to light one up every now and then to knock out some of the blues. But he needs to help his team get there now, especially this year when the W-L without him has been BETTER. This is the first time he's been a negative to the team and with that comes naturally increased pressure for him to contribute
more often than not, winning is an attitude. at least that's how i judge folks by. otherwise, one is a winner one year and a loser the other. and that can't be true most of the time.
If anyone is still in doubt that Rafer Alston is the team's weakest link, tonight's stats says it all. In fact, almost every game, his stats is like that...he's a poor shooter and never contribute much on the team ...i can't see why Morey keep having him on the team. I mean look at Aaron Brooks, that dude is not even a starter and look how much he help the team out?? And Rafer?? Hardly. Every game, his stats is always like 1/8, 2/7 you know 3/9...horrible. How can you be a starter and only score 2 or 4 points for the entire time that you stay on the court?? It's just proved you're not a good player. This team is better off with Aaron Brooks as a starter. We don't need Rafer ballhandling skills service because the ball is going to either Tmac and Yao most of the time. Sure he's a better defender than Brooks but like anyone else a poor man defender in pick n roll...doesn't really matter. Brooks should start...it's just better for the team.
i don't see how his surgery is STILL affecting him. my god, a surgery like this probably wouldn't have affected a player like kobe on the first game of the season. not only are we several months into the season, but he also had several games off followed by a full two week rehab session. now i don't expect t-mac to be back to his old self, especially since he's rusty and he's getting older, but to say it makes sense his surgery is STILL affecting him and that he's still "injured" (that is, before yao stepped on him) makes no sense at all.
Kobe never quit on his team as far as effort and on the floor production. To say that is a complete lie. In the off season Kobe voiced his dispeasure with the team, he demanded a trade and threatened not to show up. But when he did show up he clearly gave 100% and played at an MVP level. The Lakers were in position to be a play-off team prior to the Paul Gasol trade. Is Kobe an ass? YES. Does Kobe cry like a baby when he does not get his way? YES. Does Kobe or has he ever given his team less than 100%? NO.
^You should check the stats before post stuff like this. Since the two games AB started when Rafer went out (over a month ago) his shooting has been atrocious. Check his game logs if you think im lying. In recent weeks Rafer has has been balling (often carrying the team on his shooting) , tonight he had a off shooting night. There is more to being a PG than scoring points. Rafer is a leader on the floor for this team and he plays good defense. AB is a liability on defense. His man often gets offensive rebounds (watch his defense next game). Hopefully his shooting touch is back, cause without it he deosn't help us. He is a BACKUP PG in this league.
How about that time in the playoffs against the Suns when he didn't attempt a shot for the entire 2nd half ?
