i guess the assists include the one that he passed up a shot and gave up the ball to scola when the buzzer was about to go off, and then luis hit his first career 3?
For the record, I was being sarcastic (just in case people didnt get that). I agree with you with Lowry starting when Yao plays; however, this AB's first full year as a full-time starter. His rookie year, he didnt play much, and took over the starting job with 27 games left in the season. I think this is the year he's gonna surprise a lot of ppl. 18 pts and 12 assists aren't exactly fluke stats.
i know, i know... i've nothing against ab and i actually like him as a rocket. it's just some over this board way overrate him.
You may want to check out how it worked out playing Lowry at PG and not having Brooks in the game. Brooks has been, by far, the MVP of our offense in the early going. @ POR: +7 with him, -15 without him Offense fell off a cliff in the first 6 minutes of the second quarter when he sat. Adelman decided to keep him on the floor the rest of the game. @ GSW: +9 with him, -1 without him He was key in leading the comeback in the 3rd period. Scola scored the most points, but he wouldn't have gotten those looks without Brooks breaking down their defense.
does anything in your post contradict to anything i've said? and w/ w/o type of analysis ALONE tells nothing (kinda like the +/- stats).
the operative word here is "potential". imo, ab's time to turn that potential into reality isn't too plenty. how "special" you think he can be, anyway? like iverson or at least tony parker kinda special?
Memo to David Stern: When are you going to get together with the owners and find a way for the refs to stop embarrassing themselves? The traveling call on AB last night was horrific. The refusal to look at the 3-pointer that, in replay, pretty clearly showed a foot on the line, shouldn't be a choice. The rule should be like in the NFL. If a coach asks for 3-pointer to be reviewed (since the rules allow it this season) then, you don't "choose" whether or not to look at... Damn it, you look at it! Nice win, otherwise. The next step in growth for AB is to instinctively know when to switch from distributor/play-maker to scorer and back as the flow of the game dictates it. When he gets this part down, he'll really create havoc for other teams.
Looking at ONLY numbers, he's got potential to be STEVE NASH-like. I know you're gonna think im smoking *stuff* but just compare Steve Nash's first 2 years to AB's first 2 years, you see progress from both in scoring and play making. You've seen big leaps made by AB. And if he stays healthy and starts at least 75 games, he'll be putting up at least 15 pts and 6 asts for the season. I dont think anyone can complain too much about that. All you wanna see from a player if improvement.
if most of us "overate" him, then what do you think about him? and what do you think his potential is.. cause I obviously think he is gonna turn into an allstar point guard. its so obvious he will develop into a tony parker type player.. maybe better? who knows his career is still young... this is his FIRST Full year of being starting point guard and so far he is impressing me.
i dont think your smoking *stuff* i agree with you completely.. but i think hell average more points then that..
that very well could be. but a 15/6 starting pg is something special? i think not. especially if there's no superstars on a team playing and you're a big offensive weapon of the team. nash, though, imo is an anomaly. you don't see a white pg late in his career make a big leap and get 2 mvps that often. had something to do with the suns' particular style that fit nash's capability ever so perfectly when he peaked.
Tony Parker's a terrible 3-pt shooter, which is why i think more steve nash-like..Maybe in the assists dept, he'll be Tony Parker-like.
that is true. i agree with you this. i just believe that he will average around the 20 ppg mark this year. this whole team is just a mystery.. Hell even ariza could average 20 ppg this year. he showed flashes last night. this is just the start of a fun filled season for the rockets. we will find out alot about this team
ab is not exactly that young. and i am willing to say it's unlikely he will reach parker's level (which is nothing to be shamed of). parker's finishing ability around the hoop makes him special. speedy guys with a handle are plenty in the league. unless ab can develop his skills and decision-making ability around the hoop, he will not be a t. parker. not saying it's impossible, but it's not "obvious" to say the least. if ab is a stock (i'm a day trader), his all time high will come within about 20% from where he is right now imo.
