Mark Jackson is a d-bag. His commentary and constant putdowns of the Rockets, even after playing with us, just make me lose all respect for him. At least Jon Barry and JVG still give us props (though JB to a lesser extent).
God I hope the Rockets keep this up the rest of the series. We always start series' strong (with the exception of last year)... the problem has always been finishing with the same intensity in the Yao era.
Yea he lost my respect as well. I like him as a commentator when he started out but now I am beginning to realize he doesn't know what he's talking about half of the time. He seems to only say nice things to anything that he favor such as the Lakers...when a Lakers' player make a shot or did something great...he always praise them. When he doesn't like certain team, he don't have any nice thing to say about them even if knowing that Houston is a better team. That's just show you he's biased and someone that you can't rely and trust on...just like Barkley. He shouldn't be an NBA analyst for sure because he's too biased.
In all fairness, Deke was only allowed do the wag aimlessly. That should have been a tech for taunting.
with that block...taunt away young buck! its mutombo's house...even on the road. these young guys have to learn the hard way.
he wasn't looking at Roy, the wag happened to be in Roy's direction. Its taunting if he looks at the other players and wags the finger at him, not if he's looking up the floor and watching the ball.
color guys like Mark are on TV precisely NOT to be unbiased. they're supposed say things like that to make the commentary interesting. Mark Jackson isn't particularly biased against Houston. He's fine most of the time he's arguing with JVG simply for ratings and so he can say SOMETHING and keep his job The main problem with Jackson is that he's actually not too smart about basketball nor does he provide insights. He says whatever is "safe" and is really boring compared to JVG who provides a unique perspective and is actually interesting to listen to. Mark Jackson basically adds 0 value to the telecast... he should just get an assistant position on some coach's staff and stop commentating no... is this your first time watching the NBA? he is allowed to do that because he is Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo. it's not what you do in the NBA it's who does it. someone else would have been T'ed up but Jean-Jacques is allowed to do that. Trrrrrble post dude
She seemed very unbiased to me. Calling out the refs on bad calls against both teams, and paid a really cool compliment to Scola's PNR defense.
ITs been said that Mutombo will not be given a tech as long as he turns to the crowd to wag the finger. He can not do it at the player he just blocked. And he did it to the crowd so no tech.
Anybody ever get the feeling Deke would rather wag the finger then try to get the loose ball from the block? I'm just waiting for the moment where Deke blocks the shot, ball bounces right in front of him but he's too busy wagging the finger and the opposing player grabs it and scores.
They will front, double, triple and play physical with Yao in game 2. But I think the Rockets are prepared for these type of scenarios. I hope they practice hard on those fronting defenses during the break.
It's nice to see Motombo can still play and give Yao and Scola a breather. I think Adelman should let Motombo play no matter who we face. He seems effective as he still help alter shots inside and also rebounding. Of course if we face a team without a legit big man...then, we can't play Motombo.
Rockets 3rd quarter possessions with Yao: 1. Battier fouled on 3 pt attempt, shot was open, only fouled because Roy fell down trying to close. Yao was well covered. Battier was open. Good shot in flow of offense. 2. Battier penetration due to overloading other side of ball where Yao was. Good play, Shane missed first but was able to get rebound and putback. 3. Scola leading the break after a steal. 1 of 2 FTs made. 4. Brooks got a switch having Aldridge guard him, totally schooled LMA for a FT line J. Good play. 5. Brooks missed close floater off of penetration. Pushed the ball up the floor and tried to attack after a PnR. 6. Tried to go to Yao, knocked out of bounds by Batum. Brooks shoots open 3 on inbound. Yao was open, but did not look like he was ready for the ball(not in any kind of post up position). Shot missed, but AB was open. Looks like a set play for an AB 3. 7. Battier attacked an overloaded Blazer D again, Pryzbilla called for the block and Battier gets both FTs. 8. Scola gets fouled shooting point blank. AB PnR with Artest, swings in the corner to Battier who then makes the entry pass to Scola who gets fouled. 9. Artest 3 pointer, he got post position(kinda way high though) and ended up shooting a 3. Prefer him to shoot those on catch n shoots, not just standing around. 10. Flop by Roy to pick up Yao's 4th. All of these plays except the one by Artest on the 3 seemed to either be by design, called plays, or attacking mismatches. Without Yao being the focal point of their defense, Battier doesnt get those drives, Scola doesnt get that point blank look, and AB doesnt get that FT line J. Course, if they aren't focusing on Yao, he probably scores 10 more points in the 3rd before he gets that bogus 4th foul. And the Blazers were definately denying the ball going into Yao, but I also thought that the Rockets were using Yao a bit as a decoy. Ask any coach if he would force the ball to the main guy if the defense is leaving other more exploitable opportunities there for your team. Portland picked their poison. They chose to play a more straight up defense in the first half. They chose a more shading defense in the 3rd quarter. Neither worked.
