0 blocked shots as a team against the smallest frontcourt in the league. 9 TOs by our PGs. Brooks with 5 in only 15 minutes. Even though he shot the ball well, he had a bad game.
I have no idea why you are mad at Adelman. Yao got his rest when he was tired, and Tracy was benched long enough so that he wouldn't get injured...r****d
Good job at noticing the problems. Our problems at PG and lack of shot blocking will be magnified in playoffs.
Because we take away their primary players and make their scrubs attempt to step up and play, but good win I think we're starting to get an identity a new and improved swing the ball side to side VanGundy offense
not really that...yao was struggling hard in the early 4th, against his stamina and also the double team. if you leave him on court, bad things happen: turnovers, missed shots etc. it's just amazing that Rick Adelman finally learned this after coaching Yao for a whole season and still overused him at the beginning of this season. puting T-mac on bench is another story. he wasn't really needed at that time. after the timeout we began to hit shots and the O is more smooth. if we kept messing up on O, then he might get back to the game. luckily he got his rest.
Well we won. But I do agree Brooks didn't particular too well. Too quick of a trigger to my taste. Defensively went under multiple time leading to Miami's wide open treys, and just too small when Miami's bigger guards pound him inside. However you just have to take the good with the bad, overall I think he is on the right track.
Speaking of Tos, AB did force himself too much and made a couple of unnecessary Tos. Other than that, I m ok with Tos we had. Landry and Ron did a great job to help Big Yao finish the game today. Ron had Wade contained somehow.
Alston isn't usually turnover prone but he played a lot more aggressive tonight. It shows how hard it is too play like that as a PG and keep your TOs down. Guys like Nash and Wade always turn the ball over a lot. I believe that Alston's tendency for low TOs is overrated because he usually plays incredibly conservative, rarely penetrating. For whatever reason, he was attacking more tonight and we saw the result. Brooks is just too inexperienced. He will have his share of games like this as he develops.
Shot blocking? You mean Tony Parker blocks people out there? CP3 blocks people? What's your baseline comparison. Our guards can be defensive liabilities at times, but Rafer sometimes defends people pretty well. However, Lakers guard situation is not much better than ours and they went to the Finals last year. To me our guard combo is not great, but enough for us to go to the war. I think you are off on this one.
Yea, Brooks got burned on the pick n roll a few times, going under when he should have gone over. Quinn doesn't usually penetrate and Brooks should know that. Alston didn't play good defense either. Most of the time Chalmers was on the court, Alston was covering him. Chalmers put up a career high in points and drilled 5 threes, mostly over Alston who was late on his rotations.
The Heat also gamble a lot on defense. The turnovers were a problem, but the Heat forced the issue and, looking at the overall production, the Rockets made them pay.
