Nice win. The team needed this game to get going even if it was against an 1-8 team. After watching the Dallas game, I didn't think TMac could get going like he did tonight. I wish he was 100%. Here is still hoping that Shane and SF3 can come back soon.
That dunk was sick! If only Yao would do that to every beanpole that tries to guard him 1v1. On Yao's rebounding: I've given up on Yao being a bigtime rebounder too. If the rebound doesn't come right at him, he'll never get it and, even if he gets two hands on it, someone can (and will) knock it out or rip it. At this point in his career, he is what he is. He'll probably never be considered an all-time great but it doesn't mean he can't have the heart of a champion.
I seriously doubt that.. they can't rely on the impossible as their gameplan for success.. that's no way to run a successful professional basketball team.. his body is weary.. his knee is weak and not showing any improvement thus far.. and we are.. 13 games into the season.. going on 14.. he's had more single digit points per game in an extended span in this breif season than he's had in his previous years.. more of them than not we've actually won.. he looks slower.. his vertical looks shorter.. on both ends of the court.. the days of "carry us Tracy" are over.. not only is his body no longer capable.. but his team's talent no longer ends with Yao and Tracy.. If Tracy just gives us more nights like tonights 4th quarter against the Wizards.. moves the ball quickly on the half court low post set.. shoots on the open pass.. doesn't dribble or hold the ball.. we'll win lots of ball games.. all we need now.. is to work on commiting to the offense.. and instilling some low post Tracy plays.. his passing down low at his height on the guard.. and his more than capable agility and speed for the post.. with shooters like Brooks, Battier on his return, Barry on his shot's return, Wafer.. and backdoor cutters like Landry, Hayes would give us a whole different dimension.. and another viable and potent weapon in Adelman's motion offense..
That is the motivation to keep me stay till the end of game and hoping that would happen again if it is a 12 point game.
Rafer still sucks... there was a time when we could have gotten back into the game in the 3rd and here comes Rafer jackin up crap... and that floater is as good as a turnover. Not to take away from the win... but we NEED a point guard.
Im not saying he should have to carry us, I just expect him to be much more thna a three point shooter and a post up player. He's way too good and talented to be used that way. His explosiveness isnt what it used to be but he can still get by his man off the dribble because he is such a smooth ball handler.
Landry sometimes plays like an All star, sometimes he was lost. but I think he got great potential, He has the athelticm, the heart, and the mid-range shot is improving, overall, I think he needs to play more, get some tips from the veteran, I see him as a Rudy Gay type of player
not exactly.. Van Gundy's offense mainly relied on re-posting from block to block.. with Yao in more motion than the perimeter.. and shooters standing pat.. Adelman's half court set.. has more emphasis on perimeter ball movement.. notice Yao was more often than not.. in the 4th.. the only low post presence.. everyone else was outside the arch..
Has anyone read the AP story for this game yet....This is an absolute joke. "Yao, back in the lineup after missing one game with a sore left foot, had his first look at 7-foot rookie JaVale McGee, whose 7-foot-6 wingspan matches Yao’s height. The two battled all game, with the youngster not shy about challenging the perennial All-Star. It’s too bad these two teams don’t play each other more often—McGee v. Yao should be a great matchup for years to come. McGee won the opening tip from Yao and scored the game’s first points by driving over Yao for a layup. He faded in the second half, however, and finished with eight points, four rebounds and five fouls." A great matchup for years to come? Maybe if great matchup means one gets dominated by the other.
How bout JVG offense AND JVG defense for starters and bench? But Adelman's stupid little Princeton offense for the bench? Let's do this! Hire JVG back as head coach and make Adelman his assistant!
only by a few feet from where his drive begins.. he still has a decent first step.. but not the speed to maintain the advantage.. and since his elevation isn't there.. he can't leap over the defenses that will always come to a Tracy iso/screen play at the top of the key.. that's why the low post is suggested.. and would be more successful..
Yea, that was a joke report. How come no mentioning of Yao's SUPER DUPER FACIAL DOMINATION OF THE EARTH'S FACE DOMINATING OWNAGE DUNK on McGee followed by a screaming taunt???!?!??!??!!
So to attract other team defense await from paint then pass the ball to Yao so other team can't double team Yao in time.
