Notice Conley only has 7 points and 3 assists? Notice Lowry has 18 assists? Notice Lowry has 5 steals? You could use the 4 fouls arguments if Conley had 15+ points and Lowry had 0 steals. You could use the 5 turnover arguments if Lowry only had 5-8 assists. Give him some credit. 5 turnovers and 4 fouls is nothing when he puts up 17 points, 18 assists, 5 steals and holds his opponent to a well below average game. Not to mention Lowry is 5 of 9 from the field.
I agree it's a small sample size, and the only way to make his shot consistent is to keep shooting them, but he's made vast improvements from last year so far.
Some observations: *Memphis is still a scrub team, and Rudy Gay is overpaid. Who really thinks Heisley will put down cash and pay the whole cap amount for a lottery/fringe playoff team? Memphis will try to blow it up again either this season or the next, only problem is they're paying Rudy Gay the max and Conley 9M a year. Look for them to ship out either Gasol, Randolph or Thabeet and Mayo for peanuts very soon. *poor rotations by Adelman yet again. Yeah a double digit win is nice...but is it any better than 5 pt win? A 1 pt win? JH played like crap and only deserved the 10 mins he got, but Ish Smith and Patterson only played 3 mins a piece. 3 mins...against a crap team we blew out! If PP can't get decent playing time in a game like this when is he going to be able to play? We're sacrificing the future to feed the present when we should doing the opposite! Right now this team is at most first round fodder. The least you can do is play your young guns and develop them to plant the seeds for the future, and RA is too lazy to do even that.
Lowry was awesome, if he played this way every game, he would be an all star. His last 5 games including tonight in assists 3 6 9 3 18 -------- 7.8apg I am as excited about his play tonight as anyone, but let's not rehash a tired old argument or stand on the hill of a career game and try to plant a flag. DD
DD in hyper damage control mode  but actually, with yao gone now the old argument of needing a shooting PG to start with him and help with spacing is moot now... so keep starting kyle!
See, that is just silly, I loved how Kyle played, just trying to point out the facts, nothing more. Kyle was great, but it is knee jerk to think he is going to get 18 dimes a game, just as it would be knee jerk to say he is only going to get 3 like he did in the last game. Just want folks to keep things real...it is ok to be excited, heck, I am too.... Consistency is the key, if he keeps it up, he will keep the job.... DD
I don't think the spacing argument works even with Yao in the lineup. Lowry's worse shooting performance from 3 in Dec is 1-4. Lowry has hit at least ONE 3 every game in December.
I hope you're right about them shipping out Gasol &/or Thabeet for peanuts as long as we get them. However I disagree with your assesment of RA playing the young guns & developing them. Had the bench kept the lead up, PP & Ish would have gotten more minutes.
I didn't leave anything out, it was just what was there on the page....feel free to point those out too.... Facts are facts, still shows some inconsistency. DD
PP looked scared out there. i honestly can't believe we drafted this guy #14. i hope he proves me wrong...
When Brooks comes back, Lowry and Brooks will probably be getting about the same number of minutes, and I don't care which one starts. Their both good players, and either one can be hot or cold on any given night. It's good to have two good point guards.
