We all know this season is to develop young players. In stead of wish Yao to comeback, I would rather see coach play Dorsey a little bit more. Win or loose, it is all for next year.
Yao has never been a finisher though he did improve - he's to turnover prone and the refs let the defense break Yao's arm and don't call any fouls in his favor. That's why we need a legit star to replace t-mac somebody to get the Kobe treatment you can't even breath on Kobe or it's a foul.
Before when we were winning close games, it was because Landry was our go to scorer late in games. Now that teams have begun double teaming him, he's finding it much more difficult to score. Also, it doesn't help that Landry gets hacked to death, but gets no respect from the officials.
I agree. It does concern me, but I think it's a very small stretch of games where Landry has struggled. I think he'll work through this. As you said, Brooks and Landry are definitely the guys leading this offense. Overall, I struggle with the Landry-or-Scola question. Offensively, it's Landry, no doubt. He has put up incredible per-minute offensive numbers for most of this year... but with his contract, his trade value has to be very high. How about Trevor Ariza only taking 9 shots in 40 minutes tonight?
This was key, with the zone the Bucks were playing he could've easily jacked up 20 shots.....props to him for staying and making positive things happen besides shots....
I certainly hope you're right about Landry working through this. He's really had a bad stretch of games. It's making me nervous. But honestly, it shouldn't. He's certainly proven to be a legit scoring option and if we can bring in another solid option and then Yao next season, things will be much easier for Landry. What does this mean for next season? And next season is already looking very promising even before we trade away McGrady or make our offseason moves.
i'm with you here. i think we will probably need to move landry to get a enough quality, via trade, to compete this year. and i hope i'm wrong, but i just have a hunch that with the ferocity carl plays with, he is an injury waiting to happen. not sure he'll have a long career. scola, on the other hand, is durable as hell and still has game left.
Dear Ariza, Keep the shot attempts low and efficient. With this formula you will find success for your team. We don't need another Artest.
Who else feels that Brooks actually played a decent game despite the poor shooting? When his shot is off, he usually slumps his shoulders and lets it effect other parts of his game. I thought today he made pretty good decisions with the ball and worked hard on defense. I also like that he kept looking for his shot within the offense. A couple of his misses led to second chance points because they were good shots where other guys were prepared and in position for offensive boards.
What are the positive things Ariza did? Looking at his line he had no assists, 4 rebounds and 3 turnovers. Usually he puts up decent rebound and assist numbers, so this seems like a subpar game for him. I'm asking not because I want to bash him but because only saw the 4th Q and OT. This is not a "TA sucks" post.
Hey guys, another newbie, been reading the boards for quite some time but have held off posting until now. We seem to be going through a really rough patch of form, however the win today as well as the 3ot win against the t-wolves shows that even though we are doing it ugly, the team has fight. I know there is a few around but i'm another aussie, and although he is no world beater, i feel like Andersen is giving us some decent minutes. He lived 5 minutes away from me when he was growing up in Aus and went to the same school as me although i must admit i didn't know anything about him back then. We seem to have a different player every game stepping up and having a game and today was Scola's turn. We just need to find some consistency, and some form on the road and i think we look ok- i must admit the team is almost exceeding my expectations without Yao and T-Mac. Go Rockets!
10 assists (only 2 TO), 2 steals, and 1 block would seem to agree with you. I thought AB got good shots, he just missed them tonight; it won't always happen. I can't decide who I like more now, Brooks or Landry. Probably still Landry.
I thought it was a longer stretch too, but really it's the last two games where he's been pretty awful. It was January 6th where he had 31 and 10 in 34 minutes (against the Suns). He's shot under .500 in the last 4, but 3-7 in one game, 6-13 in another... not too bad. I think if he stays, he'll be fine because with Yao back and hopefully another scoring option, he'll be in a position where he can thrive. Assuming he stays, that is. I do too... I think he and Aaron Brooks are blue-chip trading pieces given that their court output far exceeds their salaries (and they're both on the books for next season). I don't know if Lowry is enough to start over Brooks, so I think Aaron stays... but I wonder about the Scola-Landry combo. Something has to give. I think Morey knows that with Yao's injuries always a concern, they need a 4/5 type player (which is why they pursued Stoudemire). If they trade Landry, they may be able to get great value and then hold the cards on Scola's restricted free agency. I'm just speculating though.
we're obviously not gonna win it all this year but who wants to lose, EVER? love to hear morey getting pissed at the refs. i want to improve our team, right now, without jeopardizing the future. pretty sure we have the gm to make that happen.
TNT giving us props in the halftime show. Chuck says you have to make a Rocket an allstar. Kenny says Brooks is an allstar player. !!
