Oh yeah I forgot to add...why does Yao Ming only have 8 shot attempts? The yahoo sports page already had a blurb about Adelman stressing the need to pound the ball to Yao, but it seemed that Adelman didn't really follow-up on it. I really find it odd that in 33 mins of play Yao only had 8 attempts. Sometimes I wonder if the Adelman who coached Portland and Sacramento and the Adelman who's our coach is the same person. He has great moments but then comes up with decisions that make you go That's the kind of behaviour that I would expect from an up-and-coming rookie coach, not a seasoned coach who's in the Phil Jackson, Popovich league.
we can handle injures a lot more than we ever could of. yao isnt hurt, tmac came out the game cuz we were playin the thunder, dunno bout ron but im not too worried. wanst cool seeing our big 3 hurtin in the same daam game but wat are the odds that they are all serverely injured? w/e they have they can play thru it or itll go away tomarrow. players always tweak ankles, knees. when somethin serious happens then id be worried, but so far no ones left on a strecher. still a godo game. ron gotta double adn so did yao. we be ballin
yeh it does see ma bit weird that yao only got 8 touches. In the last few games, it looks like yao isn't really used as an offensive weapon. In the plays he's been screening and pasing alot, btu tjhere aren't really that many set plays for him
Well that's cause he got fouled on some of the shots, and when he misses a shot when fouled, it doesn't go on attempted shots.
I'm holding my breath a little bit here on the "tweak" injuries. Not so much scared that we'll have guys missing significant time (e.g. more than 2 weeks), more that the tweaks sustained by yao and tmac might hinder some of the progress they were making. Yao's good about not letting it affect his game as much, but man, but when this happens to tmac he plays crappy. I expect a 2-12 shooting night out of him tomorrow. You heard it here.
To be fair, during the 3rd and 4th quarter Yao was getting a lot of touches...in fact the offense was going through him, just that OKC doubled down on him a lot and Swift did a good job fronting him so I guess Yao didn't feel comfortable shooting. 2nd quarter he was ignored though, it was kinda frustrating to see.
I didn't catch the game, but by the boxscore he had 11 shots and 4 turnovers in 33 minutes. Roughly, that comes to 16.4 used plays per 36 minutes. Before today, he averaged 17.5 used plays per 36 minutes. Not a huge difference. A couple season ago, though, he was averaging 26 used plays per 36 minutes.
This is just giving me more headaches by the year. Every time Yao or Tmac fall down, I think they've injured themselves beyond repair. I sat in the 3rd row at the Phoenix game and cringed when Shaq pushed Yao and Tmac down. Dangerous move. By the way, did any of you Clutchfans members happen to sit a row in front of me? I wore a dark red Rockets shirt. Cod
The pessimist in me is fearing the worst. I hope I'm wrong and it's nothing more than a sprained ankle... a minor one at that.
Nothing easy for the opponent...Full Throttle against the last place team in the NBA from Start to Finish. Got to love the Huffort On a Monday night, hardly any empty seats in lower bowl-upper bowl for a 1-9 Thunder, yet they still bring 18,000 + fans every home game as much as MSG. Even though the season just started, it's still impressive considering their population compared to other nba cities...and the toyota center, will they fill in their conspicuous lower bowls on a weeknight? ... to be continued... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:2008–09_Oklahoma_City_Thunder_season_game_log
yao was 7 for 8 tonight and 5 for 6 on ft's (no technicals). i thought this was the best game yao played since the dallas game. much more active in defense (some big blocks and stretched rebounds) and split the double teams and scored a few times at the other end. mcgrady was apparently okay. not sure what happened to yao as i didn't see anything obvious on the court that might have caused him to feel the pain. that in itself worries me a bit. ron will probably be ok. he will return with no lingering effects for sure. the only difference is how long it will take him to return. a rolled ankle is different for different players.
why did the coach let Yao and Artest on the court at garbage time? i think it was to help them build confidence.
okc is just in honeymoon with their new team. but the lower bowl at tc is the biggest shame in bball today. the rockets really need to change their marketing strategy. that's also part of gm morey's job, eh?
hey we won. we need at least 10 threads focusing on something negative. get to work. fire the coach!! me-mac!!! yao sucks!! artest steals sweet n low packets!!!
I hope the three guys will be fine. I hope Ron injury is nothing serious and the worst hopefully he will miss a game or two. I am worried about Yao though. He seems to be injured with any serious incident in the game. Yao need to be thoroughly checked. As for TMac, I think he'll be fine.
The Rockets started "Flash Seats", a way to buy and sell tix last minute. I think its a great idea to fill in the empty seats we couldn't help but notice last year, hopefully it helps this year...
Mistakes in the game IMHO too much Barry! Von Wafer should not play with the starters at this point in his development, he should only play as a reserve. It will give him a chance to score and find his way- Coaching error! I hope the big three recover over night!
amazing...whats the upadate!!! clutch gotta come through man... give us some behind the scene updates!!!
Wrong box score. 7 shots with 6 FTs. 3 of the shots were from offensive rebounds. Two turnovers were without ball offensive fouls, one turnover was a bad pass in high post. So it was only 8 used plays.
Why is chron reporting tmac is ok, but espn is reporting tmac needs an mri and "feels like he never had surgery"?
