What an outstanding game, drank over 12 beers and feeling the effects this morning but who cares great win. My spending has definitely has increased since playoffs started and hopefully to continue
The ref was pretty decent tonight. Especially TONY BROTHERS!! i swear the guy has a grudge against yao and the rockets but today was a whole different story. He made some calls that made kobe go
It's not even really "small ball" with Lowry and Brooks, because RA has Yao and Scola with them, often times. It's like small-and-tall, with the Lakers unable to match up very well with any of them. Yao's too much for any Laker. Scola has too much range for their PFs. Brooks and Lowry can get around any of the Lakers at will. I knew D-Fish and Farmar were foot slow compared to our littles, but I'm surprised by the degree of this. Maybe Jackson will show us more of Brown in the next game? The degree to which Adelman has been abused in this forum over the year is ridiculous. Of all the teams left in the playoffs, honestly, we arguably have the least total all-star talent, but he keeps squeezing the most out of his teams, from the start of his career until right now. He's amazing.
B-Bob, I've been saying the same thing all season. Adelman was always aiming for the playoffs. The guy is incredibly underrated... more here than anywhere else. Maybe that'll change now (fingers crossed!).
Which is why I said: Just in case you missed it. Maybe you could start a RA appreciation thread for his skills in out coaching the other coaches in both Game 1s.
Nevermind....somewhere along the way I got upgraded to member and wasn't even paying attention. I will start the thread because RA really deserves it.
Adelman is just an UNDERrated coach everywhere! He came in 2nd in Coach of the Year voting... sure he got his props.. but he should have been first. Even Isiah Thomas could get Coach of the Year with Lebron on his team! Daryl Morey is definitely even MORE UNDERrated as an executive! The clown in DENVER won that award because they made the trade for Chauncy. What about the RON RON trade? BOBBY JACKSON and ROOKIE for RON RON.. then RAFER for LOWRY. And the pickup of VON-NiLLa! National writers make me SICK!
The relentless fawning over the Lakers is out of control. The Lakers are not as good as everyone says, and the Rockets are better than everyone says. Offensively, the Rockets did not play one of their better games. They shot 47.9% from the field and 27.8% from 3-point range. That is not bad, but it was not the reason the Rockets won. Defensively, the Rockets were excellent. The Lakers shot 44.3% from the field and 11.1% from three point range. This was not just because the Lakers were having an off night, or because Kobe had a sore throat. Kobe shot 14-31 from the field and scored 32 points (45.2%). The Rockets held not only Kobe in check, but the entire Lakers team. Here is a box score, in case anyone is interested: http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=290504013 And Rick Adelman coached a fantastic game. He should get a lot of credit for this. Before the series started, I was thinking Lakers in 6. If the Rockets win Wednesday, I am going to reverse that, and going the rest of the way, I will be looking for the Rockets to win in 6. If the Rockets beat the Lakers, they should go all the way. No homerism in that statement, no kidding. The only team that should beat the Rockets other than the Lakers would be a completely healthy Boston Celtics team. But Kevin Garnett is out, and as a result, the Cavs appear to be the team to beat in the East. The Rockets are a better team than the Cavaliers. But this was only game one of the Lakers series, so we should not get ahead of ourselves.
As a fan of the Rockets since they first moved to Houston, I just have to say that they haven't won anything yet. Legendry games are closeout games, Conference Finals games, and NBA Finals games. Go Rockets! You've already won one closeout game this year. Keep getting better, just like the '95 Rockets did in the playoffs. (Last night's game was VERY satisfying.)
People (especially analyst and Laker fans) say that we played our best game possible, while the Lakers were simply out of sync. I disagree with that. 1. Committed some silly turnovers and miss some very easy shots, we could've easily won that game by double digits with better ball control. 2. Scola, Wafer, Landry, and Battier, offensively didn't play very well. Outside of few open jump shots, they weren't really there on offense. 3. The Lakers are definitely in a must win situation in game 2. No matter, if you are a 65+ win team or a 49 win team, you can't go on the road down 0-2. Besides, they're probably still the favorites to win this series and the west. Even, if we are up 3-0 with a 20 point lead in 4th Quarter. People are still going to be picking the Lakers to win the series. In fact, the lines are giving the Lakers and even bigger edge over us in Game 2. Yesterday's game we were an 8 1/2 point under dog for game 2 we're mostly 10 to 10 1/2 point under dog on most betting lines. 4. I don't know why people keep think Bynum is going to cancel Yao, out. Yao, one on certain days, is the best center in the NBA by far. If Dwight Howard (DPOY and best defensive center) is struggling (mightily) against on defense, what makes people think Bynum can slow him down by himself. If the Lakers do decide to front and trap Yao with two or three defenders, that's where the other guys need to step up, like Scola and Landry. 5. For one, I knew the Lakers would have trouble with Brooks. He's just too fast and shifty. He's not the same caliber Deron Williams or Chris Paul. But, he is just too d@mn fast for most defenders and dead-eye 3 point shooter (at times). I don't think that will improve, unless they try to double him or use spy defenses on him. 6. I expect Kobe to average around 28 to 33 for the rest series, no questions asked. But, the thing is can we keep him from getting other players in involved or make him take to many long jumpers. 7. The Lakers, like most of their fans, general public, and media analyst and columnist probably didn't take us very seriously and thought this would be a business as usual. Just another faceless team for the future champions. Though, I don't think I can agree with this game just being nothing more than wake-up call for the champs. The Rockets' defense is probably on par with the Celtics and in some areas better with about the same level of physical play, then throw in an unguard-able Brooks and Yao.
I agree, alot of those Rocket stops weren't totally because the Lakers were out of sync...there was just good defense out on the floor, unlike the Jazz series. Their shooters just weren't open, and the only time they were was a few odd plays where Kobe was taking it to basket or Bynum was going at it with Yao.
A good game I have ever seen since I become a Rockets fan. I like Yao came back from injure, a true man. All rockets players are very man yesterday. This is a totally different team. Go Rockets. Win more.
anyone know when or if the torrent/video of yesterday's game will be up for downlaod? def one to keep and remember.
