and whoa....Im totally surprised by this.....no mention of aaron brooks??? the dude chucks up shots lyk allen iverson (WITHOUT THE BALL FALLING PART) and goes a whopping 3 for 12 from the 3...and hes not even a 40% 3point shooter... whoa even jason kapono dun take no 12 3s from beyond the arc when ur team is shooting a combined pathetic 3 percent from the 3
Yeah, at least no one was standing at center court and passing the ball left and right just before quitting. DD
We always play bad in the regular season in Toronto. Luckily we only play their once. We are fine there is still 50 games left. lol
Quitting, throwing an elbow, losing badly... I mean, it's all pretty terrible. Losing is losing - there are rarely any silver linings to it unfortunately.
Because he wasnt chucking. The guys today were not chucking bad shots. They were taking good shots within the offense. I guess Chase took a bad 3 that he was highly contested on early in the shot clock, but 95% of the shots the Rockets took today were good shots within the offense. They just couldn't hit them. And what was Brooks supposed to do? If the rest of the guys shot the 3 at the same clip as he did today the Rockets would have had a great chance at winning this game. Always great when people criticize Rockets players for missing shots when the shots they missed were well within the scheme of the offense. I'd much rather take a wide open three than take a running off balance 12 foot floater. Or drive by the first 7 footer only to have the 2nd 7 footer block the shot.
The Rockets had an awful game but give some credit to Toronto too. The Raptors played pretty good defense, probably the best I've seen from them in a long time (which actually isn't saying much ). Our guards were a step slow, but they were also getting guarded pretty tightly. For example, I noticed off and on the Raptors were sending double teams at Budinger, which seemed to really fluster Chase and take the Houston offense out of its rhythm. Smart move by Toronto, but with experience, Budinger will probably get better at passing out of such double teams.
some folks think like we're the only good team in the league. you win some, you lose some. not to mention adelman is only working with some 20 mils salary in total. we lost - in an awkward day early game (who the f play a game at noon on sunday? this is ain't the nfl) on the road. give some credit to the opponent and move on.
To me, the thing that's both the most interesting and frustrating is the Raptors blogs and ESPN talking about their great defense in this game. No, they didn't. The Raptors didn't play great defense this game - we just had a miserable offense today for some odd reason, and they took advantage. Nothing more than that.
Didnt get to watch the game but just saw highlights on SC. Saw Pops got some action and looks like he got 1 or 2(maybe more) blocks in. It seemed it was like a block party out there.
Oh, their interior defense was better, but they left the Rockets with a LOT of open shots, not just 3balls. Their intensity in the paint was better, and from what they were saying during the game, alot better. But they werent rotating on the shooters all that well. But hey, it took a "game of the year" defensive effort from Toronto along with a "so how do you shoot this ball?" game from Houston's offense for Toronto to win like they did.
The Toronto interior defense was better because they really weren't guarding the perimeter at all which they could afford to do thanks to the awful 3-point display. They basically just plugged the paint with five guys, and so either we shot threes that were never going in or drove, which played to the Toronto advantages of height and athleticism. In short, everyone went downhill and Toronto played so-called good defense because we couldn't make any jump shots and especially 3s.
Toronto's defense is horrible and has been, thus why they are underachieving. All they did was pack the paint with everyone and dared us to take jump shots. We have no bigs that can bang down low in the paint. Our shots were just not falling today. Can't win em all.
Toronto won this because they went to Bosh early and the Rockets were again settling on long-range to three point shots. How badly does this team need a legit center.

You are right on the fact that shooting 3s within the offense is good. But the problem i have is that when ur shooting is not on, you HAVE to take it to the rim. Its ok to be blocked but at least have to chance to draw some fouls. I guess that is the down side to being a team that lives and dies by 3 point shots. Also damn that was a nice block by pops on Andersen. I really feel sorry for andersen now, missing a wide open dunk last game and getting his ***** rejected big time by pops this game.
Did you watch the game? They DID attack the rim the second they were aware that their 3 point shots weren't falling since I guess 1 for 11 from the three point territory? They tried hard enough to penetrate and there're plenty of fouls that didn't get called. Just take a look at the stat sheet and circle out the fouls section, we headed to the line 4 times more than the Raptors and drew 25 fouls on them compared to 17 committed by us. That missed dunk against Philly was definitely fouled on the play, his right arm got dragged away when he went straight up for the hoop. Well then, as long as we won the game, no one's complaining about that dunk, but we lost to the Raps, that's why we're so antsy. Still props to this team, never say die and still tried their utmost to get back in the game.
Against the Rockets it looks like you can either contest the three or clog the paint since their primary offense seems to be the 3-point shot or to drive inside of a rotating defender.
