we played with no energy in the first 2 1/2 quarters. we couldn't hit shots the entire 4 quarters. but even if we had played a perfect game, it seems that this officiating crew would have found a way to still rig the other way.
The Rockets are set at PF, I'm happy with Scola and Landry there, my problem is that need a swingman. I hope we find another player to be our playmaker and scorer this summer.
he tried to Swing DeRozan with an elbow, he didnt connect him but if he did, it woudlve been pretty dirty
Ariza was having a terrible game. He was missing wide open threes, turning over his own steals, and clanking all of his layups. So sometime early in the third, Ariza was holding the ball near the three point line and DeRozan poked the ball up high and recovered it. As DeRozan was coming down with the ball and turning to go for a fast-break, Ariza swings his arm/elbow towards DeRozan's head. Luckily he didn't connect or else he could be gone for a while.
Gotta turn up in the first. Didn't play offense OR defence in the first quarter, and found ourselves down 15. From there on we won the contest - but putting yourself in a hole doesn't seem good enough. It's been a bit of a problem of late... Realistically, Carl and Chuck need to be interchanged as starters pending the situation. Bosh/ Bargnani are far too awkward a matchup for Hayes/Scola - Barg can take either of them to the perimeter where they both struggle defensively. Landry is better suited defending the 'softer style' bigs who won't absolutely torch him down low. Then we have the bonus of extra offense. A big man combo of Scola/Landry on the offensive end is very productive. If Morey can SOMEHOW land us a 6'11+ defensive anchor, that'll also make significant differences.
He tried to swing at Derozan after a clean steal by Derozan but didn't connect. Then he got 1st technical foul and ejected immediately.
You guys just don't get it. A lot of you can't get it through your thick skull that Ariza is not going to be playing this role for years to come. I'm sure Morey is going to look for an actually legit option there that will make Ariza's life easier and let him be a full time SF, which is what he truly is.
He will improve. but i doubt he'll stay a creator for long. he should definitely turn back into a spot up/slasher. but for now he cant because we dont have a (old)Tmac/kobe type of player
Lol Toronto's lucky charm. Just a bad all around game. As others have said in here the bright spot is Carl Landry, 6th man of the year so far. The guy is a straight beast.
Honestly? I don't think it was a bad loss, just an unlucky/strange one. Our utter failure to hit threes cost us badly, as the Raptors weren't even guarding the three-point line that much in the second half and were daring us to shoot, which we weren't doing as they simply weren't falling. The result was that we were forced to drive, which played to the fact that the Raptors have the advantage in both height and athleticism. If we had hit 3's even remotely near what we normally do(which we didn't for some bizarre reason), we would have easily won, and that was with a game where our defense was not as good as normal too (though I can't really tell if we played bad defense or if it was just a very good game by Toronto, a naturally good offensive team) And Landry at this point is clearly the offensive leader of the team. Pretty much single-handedly kept this from being a 20 or 30 point loss. Ariza? Ah well. He had a rough night, and lost his cool, which was unfortunate both for him and the fact that we're going to see tons of anti-Ariza and pro-McGrady threads for a while, which is annoying. Hopefully he doesn't get suspended, as we'll need him down this rough stretch.
We live and die by those 3s, just couldn't buy a bucket today, awful awful performance on shooting. Other than terrible shooting touch, we did a job getting in the paint, drawing contact and go to the line for fts.
We didn't play well but man those refs basically forced us into attempting threes nonstop because they called absolutely nothing inside and whistled us whenever we breathed on them for the first half. An absolute jobbing in my book and if I am Morey I just erase the stats from this game as they tell you nothing except how well our players do when the game is rigged against them.
We just needed a few more threes. Didn't even have to be a spectacular percentage. If we would hit 25% of our threes the game would have had a different outcome. Scola and Landry clearly outworked that soft ass Raptors frontline that we would have probably won had we hit a better percentage (not even average, but like I said 25%).
Only against teams with no bigs or soft bigs.. like today. the thing is landry will be super productive on offence and get abused by bigger and stronger centers down low.
