wow, that was a terrible defensive effort. if we want to make the playoffs, these kinds of games cannot happen.

I honestly believe that, in about a week or so, Armstrong should just be our starting Center for the rest of the season... or at the very least he should be getting legitimate playing time. And by that, I mean 25+ minutes.

He may not amount to much, but at least we can develop him a little bit. Try him out, see what he's got, and then next season we get Yao back.

I know one thing, our bigs better show up 2morrow. Whoever Rick decides to play...

Pacers don't have a David West or Okafor.

So a front court of Scola and Battier is not going to cut it in the 4th.

Guys it will take time to get the defense down...

We had our backup PF traded, and the new guys had no idea about what to do so we had to play Shane and Trevor at the PF spot.

That is not going to get it done.

Give Armstrong, Jeffries and Hill a chance to learn the schemes and one of them will come on and fill that important role.

    My money is on Armstrong.

Mine is Hill, for what I've seen of him, he's what we need. Armstrong too but won't have the opportunity.

    from 5 mins in the 4th : rockets 106 indy 105

    Defensive posessions

-pick and roll play, ford pops out, brooks went under, trevor left too early on the switch, Ford nails jumper

-ford dribbles upcourt quickly, brooks backpedaling, hibbert sets surprise pick on his way to the paint, scola out of position to cover ford because he was getting back on d in the post. Ford nails jumper

-Ford dribbles upcourt, immediately drives on brooks one on one, creates enough contact to bump him off, hits floater.

-ford/hibbert again try two man game, rockets shut it down, cross court pass leads to a bad 3 pt attempt by dunleavy that hits the top of the backboard

    3 mins left

-turnover, ford dribble upcourt, battier directs brooks to pick up the open man closes to brooks, battier stays on ford...now this created a mismatch since the man brooks covered was dunleavy. Ball to dunleavy, now Martin is on murphy due to the mismatches, murphy catches him sleeping and goes backdoor, gets inside position, dunleavy to murphy, who's fouled on a lay up

    - Again ford and hibbert two man game, ford pulls up, scola AND ariza right there, miss.

-pick and roll, ford doesnt drive, hibbert goes to the rim, scola gets lost, layup by hibbert.

    - shut down pick and roll, ford finds granger crosscourt, wide open 3, good....Ariza was caught floating here, which is why Granger was open.

    1:35 left

-Pick and roll, ford decides to drive, battier contests at the rim, forces ford to throw bad pass which is tipped, scramble for ball, ford ends up picking it back up and quickly throws a short pass to a wide open granger at the 3 pt line, shot good.....granger was open because ariza started taking off to the other end after Ford's pass was tipped.

at this point the score is 122-110 Pacers, out of reach with just under a min left.

3 turnovers during that 4 min span mins, none really forced, one a bad call offensive foul on Scola. This probabbly hurt them more, if not just as much as their perimeter D.

So as you can see, interior D or going small at the 4 was never really an issue defensively in the end, except for one play where Murphy got freebies after he had Martin on a mismatch. The only reason that mismatch happened was because Battier ended up on ford, not sure if this was planned by battier or if he just took him because he was closest as Ford tried to make his move......

If battier wasnt at the 4, it would have been scola and chuck at the 4/5. first, not many of these buckets would have been stopped by replacing scola with chuck, since most involved ford/brooks alone or ariza leaving his man. On the plays where scola was involved during a score, there was nothing a better defensive player (or a taller one) could have done any better. The only one was possibly where scola lost track of hibbert for a second on the pick and roll and Hibbert rolled for a layup, but i think that was just good and quick execution by hibbert/ford.

what a joke why do we have to force battier into the game jordan hill might not be ready but he should of got some time at the 4 battier at the 4 is a horrible idea. also how much worst can hill or armstrong be then the softest guy in the nba david anderson. I just wanna throw up first ra does the ridiculous of bringing kevin martin off the bench which is dumb he should of started then ra says we need to get battier in the game forget going to jordan hill lets go to shane at the 4 and then to make things even worst we need to go to david mr soft anderson. come on ra lets see if jordan hill has some game battier at the 4 is definitely not the answere

Or until he gets tired of the uncontested layup drill at the rim.

Houston Lay Up Drill Rockets, i am really missing Yao....our D is 110% better with him just standing in the paint. Wake up Rick, where's Jefferies? didn't we get him for the D?

    pwn pwn pwn

I'll still watch and cheer for the Rockets but this is a huge setback and we won't win a title in the next 5 years.
