Wish Chuck Hayes could have played in those final couple of minutes. Disgusting ending thanks to the bizarre group of players on the court. Watching Courtney Lee jacking up garbage with Yao in the game was ugly. Jeffries will NOT be a part of the regular rotation when Chuck Hayes returns. That said, the Rockets were cruising along nicely for long stretches of the game. I did think that we looked better than Dallas, and it took our new whipping boy choking the game away almost singlehandedly to lose it on Dallas' court. The Mavs finished the game with their starters while Houston was trotting out Miller, Jeffries, Bud, Smith, and Lee. Once Kyle Lowry returns, I wouldn't be surprised (or displeased) if we see Lee finish the final minutes of a game pretty rarely.
Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries should not be in the game together because of their lack of rebounding/boxing out. I wonder how things would've been different if Adelman had been there. I had to have another rowdy look up why he wasn't at the game on his smart phone. They don't tell you these sorts of stuff at the game. Oh and the last play. We are up 1. They only need a 2 to win. What does it seem like 50% of scores from teams on a only enough time for a catch and shoot inbounds play come from?? What have the Rockets run on a play like that before?? THE ALLEY-OOP from the opposite side!! How do you not defend that???? I was at the game yelling my face off going crazy trying to communicate to the coaches to put KMart in the 4th quarter!!! I don't understand why he wasn't in there. Maybe they thought he was a defensive liability, IDK. Jared Jeffries cannot finish, although I didn't need to see this game to know that. He should only be working on the Mikan layup drill only in practice. Good drill. We looked good despite that ending. Saw a lot of great things from our players. We could've really used Lowry and Chuck that game, but I'm glad to see Ish have the opportunity to play in a regular season like preseason game. He did well. I want to keep him out of the Rio Grande Valley.
Last time I checked this was a Rockets Forum, not an English class. You're definitely no English teacher. If you don't understand a post, move on. Si yo quiero escribir en espanol pues escribo en espanol. Si no me entiendes, lee otra cosa.
For all the freedom of the RA offense, this game showed that the players need leader on the floor especially in the endgame. On defense, it should be Shane or Chuck. But on offense, it should be the PG. I know that the system says whoever is open can shoot it, but in the endgame, they should take directions from Aaron or whoever the PG is on the court. I think Turner sent in Miller and asked him to distribute the ball (CBud got blocked on the backdoor cut) and AB got left out. They should work that out. AB should have the ball in the dying minutes.
they probably didnt want kmart to get hurt playing too much in the preseason. They know his skills. For some reason we have played teams that want W's in the preseason by playing starters in the final minutes. I honestly think we can beat the mavs 3-1 this season if we have chuck playing significant minutes.
Not concerned in the least. We had coaches coaching that won't normally be coaching. We had players playing that won't normally be playing. The officiating.. Well, hopefully it won't be as bad as it was. The Rockets do have a history of blowing leads late in games, but I'm thinking the Rockets learned something from this game. Time will tell.
Shane is looking like a 110-year old guy out there. I don't buy that this is only pre-season. Dude is just declining. Expect one game where Battier hits five 3-pointers mixed with a number of three points (total). Those who say Shane could adequately replace Ariza's production will be eating their own words at mid-season. Too bad Ariza was just a d******d while here.
Not sure who you heard saying Shane can replace Ariza's production, considering he has never been much more than a 8 and 4 guy. The emergence of Budinger and addition of Lee could easily replace him though.
As long as Shanes minutes are limited it is not a problem. By Season end Bud should get most of the SF minutes. The problem is a Bud Martin combination is a major defensive liability to end the game. If we had Yao and a more athletic PF we could over come that liability some. Scola isn't the answer. My hpe is Patterson by season end will be. If that happenss we will be in good shape come playoffs. If not I prefer lee and martin not Lee and Budinger.
Also, maybe they are trying to keep Martin, who is shooting really well, from being satisfied and having reached peak form in preseason. It's good to have leave him feeling like he's on the verge of getting there. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lyl5DlrsU90?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lyl5DlrsU90?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I love C-Bud's game, but has he really shown an ability to play defense as a starting s/f? I also like Lee, but honestly, the jury is still out on the Ariza trade. I just think Ariza starting at s/f (the way he finished last year after the Martin trade) with Shane coming off the bench, was a near perfect set up for us. Alas, it appears Ariza just didn't fit in as a Rocket. Though I like many parts of his game, Ariza just never appeared to really belong here.
No. Which is why he is the backup. Ariza would have been fine as a starter, the problem isn't with him. But keeping him, we would have had 1 prototypical SG and 3 SFs. Trading him for Lee, we balance out the roster with 2 SGs and 2 SFs. You can argue which pairing is better talent-wise, but as far as "fit", it was the right move. And more importantly, what ever talent gap there is(there might not be any), it is made up by the 10M we save on luxury tax. Meaning additional capital to use for other upgrades.
pretty much...i dont think Lee deserves as much criticism as he's getting...maybe for stepping out of bounds, but on the last play he couldnt do anything about it...he got held back on a moving pick by dirk...which is also why Marion was so wide open. Battier missed it, and Lee was too far back to make a play for it. Personally i would have put Yao on Kidd, to make sure Kidd's pass was more vertical than horizontal...this way you know the pass has to come down righ the rim and it would take longer...then you put Jeffries right under the rim to wait for it. The other defenders float on the side of the court closest to the inbounder....Jeffries would also follow any crosscourt pass and challenge the shot.
And 2.5 on 5 on offense, so what's your point? If we had two way players from 1 to 5 we'd have a 3 peat by now.
Can somebody explain me this??? min 1:54 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o_kN5ncKl0 How is he out of bounds there when his foot is on the line but he haven touch the ball yet? Isn't out of bounds, when the ball touch anywhere outside the court or when a player touch the ball when he is out of bound. I didn't know you were out of bounds when you feet is touching the line and you are close the ball? Is this a new rule like football(soccer) that the ball just need to cross the line without touch nothing and is call out?
Seriously. What is everyone freaking out over? That he missed a contested layup to beat the shot clock? That he was screwed over by the refs on a potential game winning steal? That he failed to cover Marion, when that wasn't even his man? "Bone-headed"? "Dumb"? Are people serious? Can somebody please explain to me what he did wrong, because it is totally going over my head.
The point is obvious. They don't have to guard Shane on offense. Especially if he can't hit his threes. For Shane to viable on offense he needs to hit 40% from behind the arc. If he is hitting 30 than he better be playing super defense. Shane doesn't play superstar defense. Shane is not athletic he doesn't eat up the passing lanes. He doesn't make athletic plays down the court ala Tashaun Prince. he will never be confused for a defensive Kobe Bryant or Lebron James. What Shane does is play smart. He doesn't make many mistakes and he studies his opponents game to best cover him. I admire Shane. He gets more out of his God given talents than most. But the point is his defensive presence does not offset 25% 3point shooting and 3 points
