After all of that? This is what i took from that. Rockets are better than the Spurs and Mavericks. They simply let games slip they owned for most of all of the minutes. The San Antonio game without Yao and using the 3rd and snd teamers. The Dallas game? Simply bad luck and poor coaching decisions and player decisions within the final minutes. They are better than both easily though it seemed like they could outplay both the whole game if they had executed better at will. That comes down to better time management of minutes and players. Hands down the better team lost today.
yeah because they did so in ONE game. It's all Blair. He's a rook that's taking teams by surprise, once you know what the can do it'll be different.
The Rockets were in control of this game. Dallas simply has experienced players that know how to win games despite playing poorly.
Rockets would destroy the Spurs in a 7 game series. They outplayed them most of the entire game without Yao. Then the 2nd and 3rd teamers for the entire 4th quarter. The Spurs run is over. You cant referee them to 4 victories in the playoffs. No matter how much Stern likes to party in San Antonio. They are simply too old and wont be this injury free for the rest of the season.
Id buy that if we had our coach in there and Kevin Martin playing the final minutes. Just a poor run quarter of experimenting while it still doesnt count to me.
Ok, that was some bone-headed stuff by Lee. Hopefully that wasn't a sign of things to come from him. He needs to see game film of these situations so he doesn't make these kinds of errors in the regular season. That said, this is why you need Adelman to be telling the players when to rotate and be careful of a pass at the rim. There was no rim protection, which was a schematic problem as much as the lack of a defensive switch. I don't think you put Yao on the in-bound passer when all they need is a 2 pointer and there's that little time on the clock. Yao should've been near the basket to take away the alley-oop, which would for a catch and shoot, which is a much lower % shot. I'm not really worried about the last play because Adelman will be around normally.
I thought they played us and acted like they won the world Series actually. if anythiong it was the Rockets who looked like they wherent trying to really win the game with their best players. Dallas practically was diving for every loose ball. Then they acted as if was game 7 in the playoffs they had won.
find another rookie to pick on dude! it makes sense! ur just a moron. i can say whatever the f**k i want as long it doesnt break any rules!
i see this guy is the the alpha douchbagg from clutchfans... lay off the sarcasm for a bit u troll!....
When your 20+ppg scorer isn't playing from like the 4 minute mark in the 3rd quarter on, and Ish Smith is still in the game with 5 to go, there's a problem. This is only compounded by the fact that Martin was telling Feigen the other day he'd like to get some more burn, AND that this was supposed to be a dress rehearsal. You'd think Turner would know the rotation Adelman desires. There was nothing about the rotations that made sense tonight. I understand riding the hot hand with Bud considering he was lights out most of the game, but come on. Kevin Martin is a cornerstone of this team, and to play him 21 minutes is a damn shame, especially in comparison to Lee's 27. Incompetent coaching through and through, and while I know it's a bit of an over-reaction to hate Elston Turner, it's hard to not hit below the belt and think to yourself, 'THIS is why you didn't get a job this summer.'
I hope they're happy, they didn't look into it at times near the end. Scola didn't hustle on bounds much, Lee was a moron, and coaches were dumb for putting Yao on the ball.
I was wondering about this. The rotation seemed pretty quirky in the second half. I wasn't sure whether it was by design or just Turner's preferences. Also, there weren't many set plays run for Martin all game (coming off a series of screens, etc.), though they did exploit the matchup wiith Kidd in the second half. And leaving Martin on the bench at the end, it was as if the Rockets were trying not to show all their cards in a meaningless game. Oh well. I'm glad the games will start counting from now on.
Smart move by putting Yao on the inbounds pass. Bad move not having Jeffries on Dirk and Shane on Marion. I thought Shane was a mastermind on D., switching would have been smart. Hopefully we learn from this foolishness.
I don't care how good a defender Jeffries is. I would rather have Jordan Hill out there. Jeffries is a terrible finisher near the basket. As for Lee, his plays at the end were dumb but overall he played great defense during the game. I do wish however that Martin had gotten more playing time in the 4th quarter. I kept expecting him to check back in but he was left in the bench.
The Rockets are still, obviously, a work in progress. Don't expect them to set the world on fire... yet. We'd all love to see them win the opening game in L.A. but realistically, that's a lot to ask of a team that hasn't really gelled and does have younger players, prone to mistakes. Not to mention they've already got the injury bug and the season hasn't even started.
