The team built to play around Yao Ming. Yao is not coming back. That team build scenario is useless. Scrap it for 2.0 version.

I really wonder if Yao being out and his uncertainty with the team is having a negative effect mentally on our guys. Last year, it was the "we're going to hold down the fort until Yao comes back." This year, its even worse because Yao did come back but is now out again. If our guys played like they did last year, we would definitely be better than our record is right now.

This could be an accurate observation.

However, talent trumps all. So I'm not gonna say much about this "hard work" issue.

Well I agree with JVG. This team needs a star player a difference maker. Right now we depend on guys like Battier/Lowry/Scola/Martin whoever to get hot for one night or week...and lead us to wins.

DM should have made that trade for Amar'e if there was any truth to that. Other than that I don't think he's had much shot at getting another big name.

Until another star breaks free I suspect the Rockets to be after more prospect players that have failed(didn't work) with their teams like Randolph, Thabeet, Mayo, Whiteside but they will be low risk moves knowing Morey.

Also I don't see how Granger or Iggy do anything for this team but maybe make them a 8th 7th seed.

Please tell me you're not serious. I don't care if you have 80 wins or 2 wins, nobody with that mentality is going to succeed for long.

For one season? Yep. Get high draft pick and trade away veterans for picks or other two way stars. Play next year with high draft pick, young guys and star we aquired by trading away a bunch of solid guys for one great player or a few good guys for a good defensive center.

That wouldn't be such a bad thing. We'd get a top 5 pick. What we have right now is not going to do anything.

With Morey's drafting skills we can be stuck here in mediocre land for a while until some player just has the urge to play for the Rockets.

Honestly, I cannot disagree with anything you said here. I'm afraid it's going to be a long uphill climb for this franchise to get back to contender status - if ever that happens.

At least they get high draft picks.

We are stuck in basketball purgatory. Too good to get help from the draft but not good enough to contend.

Basically we are spinning our tires in the mud getting nowhere. Maybe its just me, but I would like for this team to get somewhere.

When teams win, their players become stars. We need to plug up the hole in our interior. Then we can turn our players into stars OR attract the stars to come to us. Right now, maybe we're known as the team that injures its players. Can't we do anything about our training staff???

The only missing in this team is defense. We have talent. This is a better team than JVG's team, but no defense effort.

Look, we played hard in the first half when the game was within reach. But when the Magic pulled away, the starters know they have done all they can. They have to start thinking about the game tomorrow. I don't know why we fault them when it is a strategic move.

So what kind of team would we want to build? That would be a god thread. If we could dream ... realistically, what kind of team could we build?

The effort is there, but the knowhow/ability/physical tools are not there.

25% of the fault goes to the coaches' poor defensive schemes and preparation

I agree. But none of them have the ability.
