I agree with Solid, they need to learn to protect their lead better and it's true Adelman's final plays are almost always duds.
i think they need to expect problems with size...it always happens against LA. their players were reaching over constantly...RA needs to make an adjustment...at least give hill a minute or two. i cant see him doing anything worse, not to mention he's making an effort to block shots. they stepped up their scoring in the end...better defense wins this one late.
Aaron Brooks was amazing tonight. 24 points, 9 assists, 2 TO. He was obviously winded in the second half. 42 minutes is just too many. Should be better when Lowry gets back to lighten the load. Martin was fine, played surprisingly good d on Kobe. The fouls were bad and kept him off the court in the third. We really needed him when the offense started slowing down. Scola and Yao were just plain bad. Scola almost reedeemed himself in the end with some clutch play but those two were missing easy put backs left and right. Scola was so lost on defensive rotations he gave up atleast 3-4 easy baskets on cuts by other big men. Miller too, defensively. Loved Chase. He works really well with Miller. Lee looked decent but ended up -13, by far the worst on the team. I'll have to go back and look at tape to see what was going on there. People seem to want to blame Battier, but the opposing wings were not effecient at all, which is his job. Overall, what killed us was the play of Gasol and Odom. Our post defense has got to get better. Hill really should of gotten some time tonight.
Say what you will about the refs... we lost b/c we couldn't get those string of easy layups and committed a ridiculous amount turnovers. I'm gonna chock it up to first game jitters and hopefully we do good against GS tomorrow.
agree..agree...agree... yes we do have examption to that rule i beileive...no we couldn't because he was fouled out
This game pisses me off fking big time. Stayed up late to watch Battier shooting airballs and Scola missing easy layups. FFFFFUUUUU
battier's choice is alright..it's arron doing the wrong decision.. should just stop and pop..i don't see why he chooses to go reverse and get blocked..
refs could have cost us the game too. That technical was huge on how we had to play the last few minutes of the game.
Tough loss, but very happy with the persistence after going down 99-91. I thought it was over at that point. Scola just keeps playing. I am really disappointed in Brooks' defense. I know that's not one of his strong points, but on the winner Blake hit Brooks was just guarding air while Blake made his cut. Always keep yourself between the man and the goal.
I'm curious to see all those that claim they could have come up with a better play at that end of the game to draw one up. Do any of you...understand how tough of an inbound pass that is from that deep corner? I thought we were lucky to get that kind of a look to AB. Anyways, tough loss, but a lot of positive things to build on.
When in the hell is RA and Morey going to realize that Chuck Hayes IS NOT A NBA PLAYER! 0 REBS IN 15MINS & allowed Odom to go coast to coast on a layup! HE NEVER STOPPED THE BALL! You have 2 guys 6'10 or more (Hill & Jeffries) and a 6'9 LOTTERY pick at power forward & yet RA chooses to go with 6'4 can't score or rebound Chuck Hayes behind Scola. WOW! Adelman is a great coach but he had his head up his A$$ tonight.
Ish Smith should have had more minutes, or at least try the "Courtney at the 1" experiment instead of wearing Brooks out like that. We need Brooks on fresh legs not just in crunch time, but also later in the season. I thought it was a stupid move by Adelman.
I agree Brooks missed Scola open on the elbow but I think this will be a part of his maturation process. He was open for a spit second and he had made a similar shot earlier in the game. So I can somewhat understand his thought process. Hopefully the los will be a blessing because if he had made that shot, he wouldn't look for the open player the next time he was in that same situation.
Battier is horrible...can't shoot...making bad decision. The last play should go to Martin...he was open. The play should be throw to Martin and let him do a pump fake and then shoot try to draw foul....they have enough time for that. Passing to Brook seems ok...it looks like Brook was open and should just strive and go for a quick layup...i don't know why he want to dribble ...it was stupid. Another thing is..i think the refs are pro Lakers....it looks like they call against Houston in order to get LA back into the game...you can pretty much tell when you watch the game....i think some of the refs are probably Lakers fans. Aaron Brooks constantly letting Blake open....play some freaking defense already!! On top of that....he turns over the ball. Brooks and refs are the reason we lost IMO. Brooks let the Lakers make the surge starting with Blake. Refs making too many question calls.
Look on the brightside! Now we we'll only get screwed by the officials most of the game excluding the end with obvious calls on tv they have to reverse.
Lakers will argue a healthy Kobe and Bynum and they are better too. Truth is if we lost this by 2 without ever having a decent lead I'm sure most of people would of been happy but to blow a decent lead and drop the level of play so much is poor no matter how good the opponent is... Oh well... Loliors at home tomorrow... if we lose that one everybody is allowed to start the abuse!
