So you are saying PAU is a star player? I mean come on, he didn't get those calls in Memphis..... No one gets calls in that situation, star or not.....the refs call the game one way for 44 minutes then change in the last 4. The only one who got star calls last night was Kobe, and there are VERY VERY few Kobe's in the league and none available. DD
I totally agree. It was their first game and it was against the Lakers. Like DD stated earlier, they don't have the rotation down yet. That will come though...
Another thing, how do you think Kevin Martin did last night? IMO, he shot well and was efficient (as usual), but watching him in the game, it didn't look like he could really create his shot. Like I remember in his Sac days he could create and looked for fluid. Is it just me? What do you think is the reason for the change?
Mixed bag on Lee.....I think he chucks a bit too much for my liking and he has happy feet on defense, in other words, he needs to calm down. That being said, I think he did OK......but I am not convinced we have enough room to play 4 guys at the wing position, I would prefer a 3 man rotation instead.... DD
I wasn't talking about Pau being a superstar. I was stating how Kobe was able to get a call that Scola didn't get. My whole point was not having a superstar to get calls during the crunch time.
If we hit all those 1 foot shots we miss, we win by 10+ points.....and those calls are irrelevent. The Lakers made shots, the Rockets missed shots. Ball game folks. DD
I strongly disagree with the decision not to play Jordan Hill in this game. Chuck hayes is a good defender if the player he is guarding is not close to the rim and he is too undersized against the lakers frontline which led to odom getting a ton of points.
Exactly. Chuck was overmatched by the height. He shouldn't ever be asked to guard centers now anyway, since we have Yao and Miller in addition to Hill.
I thought Martin looked very well last night. He was able to take advantage of the Lakers when they weren't set in their defense. I think what you're talking about is when he was in Sac and he was the only person that could score on the team. He was their only option so he had to create. That's why it looked very easy for him to create his shot during his SAC days. It will be different for him here since others can score and it's more of a team atmosphere here.
It's all about trust when it comes to Hill. I think they believe he has high potential but hasn't showed it consistently.
Chuck Hayes did fine, the problem was Brad Miller, you can't have them both on the court at the same time or you give up patios left and right. Hill has quickness and length to complement Hayes interior D, Miller is a liabilty there.
their frontline intimidates us, those shots were under duress. we need to not worry about getting our shots blocked and just be pesistent.
I didn't care for that three he shot. I think he needs to focus on the defensive end for this team. Points will come for him in steals and cutting. There's no need for him to chuck it up especially early in the shot clock.
Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries, Patrick Patterson > Chuck Hayes. Gotta play the best players folks. No matter what your "loving" wives & girlfriends tell you "SIZE MATTERS" There wasn't an abundance of bad calls either, Too many turnovers, Shooters left open too many times, Too many second shots & Too much size left on the bench! All that = Lakers win. But 1 down & the season left!
The stretch near the end of the third quarter/start of the fourth quarter is really when I felt this game beginning to slip away. I felt like the Rockets got out of the offense. There were just too many spot-up threes early in the shot clock. Those were going down in the first quarter, but it was painfully obvious they weren't in the third and fourth. It was just Aaron Brooks, but he's just the one that sticks out the most for me. OTOH, I have a hard time blaming him. Yao had nearly exhausted his minutes and then not long after that, he fouled out. Kevin Martin was in foul trouble so he was on the bench. There just weren't very many options for creating offense at this point.
We definitely need Hill in the paint to block some shots. B-Rad was letting them take stroll in the paint for some easy lay ups and dunks.
They missed uncontested shots, Yao especially was horrible around the rim.....Scola too.... Too many easy easy uncontested shots....just missed. BTW - only one Rocket shot better than 50%......and he barely played in the 2nd half. DD
Tough loss but they showed good intensity and flashes of very good things to come. More positives than negatives, but our backcourt D is worrisome. Defensively: Martin & Brooks = Martin & Lewis
