Lots of areas we can improve. But this team has hope. Yao's first game after 15 months. Bunch of young players and new players, playing against the Lakers in LA.

It's a winnable game, a tough loss. I am happy for this game, and they can only get better.

Shame on those extremely negative fans in the game thread, so easy to quit, so quick to blame.

Looks like the same chokers to me. Rockets remind me of women. They will always tease you thinking you will get something good then at last min take it away.

The game was lost when they started isolating Brooks. The offense just lost the momentum and everything went downhill

I wanted Battier to go to Martin for the win. Kobe always lights up Battier for the and one.

Don't worry there are 81 games left and there will be another one tomorrow.

The Rockets showed some good things.

This seems to be a pattern in this matchup, though. The Rockets start off well, but the Lakers superior talent eventually overcomes us. I always hate to lose to the Lakers, but then there's no shame to losing on the road to the defending champs. They weren't at full strength, but neither were we.

Great game. I wasn't really expecting to beat the Lakers in L.A. on opening night and the Rockets put up a great fire. Letting Brown/Blake beat us was a little embarrassing, but it was a good game nonetheless. We should continue improving with Yao getting better (he was terrible offensively) and the new guys integrating.

It was Shannon Brown that cost the Rockets the game tonight. Brown and then Steve Blake's threes.

    DEFENDING NBA CHAMPS

that's the first time we need to realize....we got the best team on day one, after they received their rings...they had to come with it 100%

    A few things:

-RA still sucks at last second plays

    - rockets needs some go and get it attitude...Lakers were beating them to the ball, to the rim, etc.

-Hayes and lee, 0 rebs in 30 mins, not acceptable. RA needs to have more trust in Hill in these situations. Lack of heigh was clearly killing them in the 3rd qrtr and most of 4th.

Upset we let one get away...it was simply a killer qrt and a half of action where they wanted it more, but this might just be our toughest matchup in the league, so perhaps it only gets "easier" from here.

Should have been an easy win. Too many mistakes....settling for jumpers, not closing out on shooters and SOOOOO MANY TURNOVERS!

Too many turnovers in 3rd period
Lack of effort on the glass in the first half
Missed layups that will eventually fall

    They fought until the end

This team can contend if they can stay healthy.
