Was watching this at a Lakers fans' household, with their family which made the loss that much more upsetting to me. Scola missed way too many easy shots when they mattered, but I loved his hustle. This was a good game, just way too many tiny errors in the last minutes of the game.

I'm going to the game tomorrow though, hoping we rape the Warriors.

Uhh there were 2 seconds on the clock. You act like it was about 10 seconds.

We beat ourselves, which I think we can improve.

    Turnovers killed us.

One thing I am impressed with is Martin's defense.

He drastically improved and showed he could do other things beside score the ball.

He did a good job on Bryant.

A lot of people talked about rebounding but apparently we actually out-rebounded Lakers 53-44 (16 off - 14). I think it's not really rebounding in general but rather the rebounds when it matters we need to work on. If we had gotten some of those def. rebounds when Lakers were making their push we would have held them off. It seems to me our rebounding gets significantly worse when the pressure is on.

On the road with the game this close the road team should go for the win. It was a nice to see the team compete with the world champs. Too many turn overs, giving up too many rebounds, and bad three point defense cost the team this game. Oh, well on to GS and get to an early .500.

Hayes shouldn't be on an NBA court! EVER! A 6'3 forward who cant score or rebound! If you're serious about a title then he isnt even ON YOUR ROSTER!

thing that bothered me the most was Brooks on that last defensive position

he literally just stood around watching kobe i thought blake got so wide open because brooks was picked off but after watching the replay brooks just was standing there and blake ran to the open spot and got a wide open look. Especially when the guy has hit his last two 3s you would think that you would want to keep an eye on him.

that bothered me more than anything else at that stage in the game brooks you should be better than that. AB isnt going to wow anyone with his D of course but that was just piss poor defense even for high school let alone the nba.

a game like this though would have been W if Lowry was there...(not trying to compare the two players here) but i think at least at the end of the third lowry would have contested the 2 back to back 3s by blake, helped better on Brown and really all throughout the game gotten 1-2 of those long rebounds the lakers kept getting on the offensive glass.

one terrible call that actually led to the point differential:
late in the fourth quarter scola gets a rebound after he and miller miss some layups and gets stripped, scola, kobe, and odom all go after the ball scola dives, odom dives the ball goes out on scola and thats whats initially called but then they call a foul on Scola and Kobe is at the line shooting two.

    what was that all about?

despite all that i like the fight they showed..not sure why adelman didnt go to lee instead of chase when he took martin out in the 3rd i didnt think that was a good substituion right there, but Chase hardly played in the 2nd half should have gotten some more burn after a solid first half

I was thinking the same thing, but to me it was not clear whether Kobe was trying to pass to Gasol or Blake.

I get too emotional during games to actually analyze what they're doing. Here's my analysis from the top of my head:

    Negatives:
Scola missed WAY too many open looks
Lee has mental lapses offensively once in a while and dribbles too much
Battier needs to hit a 3 or a putback or ANYTHING at least once in a while.
    Yao still needs work
    Rebounding. Every aspect of it.
TURNOVERS (especially dumb offensive fouls and lazy passes)
Miller couldn't hang with Gasol, but that's no surprise
Whoever was supposed to guard Shannon Brown in the 4th Q
Whoever was supposed to guard Steve Blake in the 3rd Q
    That BS tech on Martin
    General choke-iness

    Positives:
Brooks picked up where he left off offensively
Martin looks a lot more comfortable in the offense
    Miller's passes can be spectacular
Hard G is our best off-the-ball player and finisher by far
We seemed to be able to get the ball into Yao more effectively than in the past
    Kobe was crap
We were neck and neck with the world champs
    We play Golden State tomorrow
    Yao can still walk

Pretty obvious points, but I don't feel like watching the game again because A) I'll get pissed off again and B) There's a game tomorrow.

How can you conitually lose doubledigit leads? How? Its an art form or the refs helping it along or the coaching. One of these things is happening here.

I totally agree. Rockets are better than the Lakers imo once they start to click. I think courtney lee played great and plays just as good or better Defense than shane battier so why doesnt he start. what do y'all think?

Ok so Yao and Scola should be benched and we play... Hill and Hayes? or even worse Hill and Patterson? Scola had a bad game tonight and he got frustrated but he has heart and he's all about winning games and not just scoring and looking nice like Brooks, Martin, Carmelo Anthony, Bosh,Lebron James,Iverson, Beasley, Zach Randolph... and I could go on for ages...
Yao needs time he's looking really slow but you have to admit he was playing against one of the 3 best big men in the entire league so he'll be fine eventually.

Well, if you need someone to guard Paul Peirce for 15 seconds, Chuck is pretty ideal.

i don't see we can easily win the next game on GS though..
with ab's heavy minutes today, yao will not be there..and the way we blow the lead today...GS is getting better as ellis, curry and david lee are pretty gd together..

Scola almost willed the team to a win in the fourth, but he was not looking sharp most of the night, defensively and offensively.

Yao looked surprisingly good for his first regular season game in over a year.

Jeffries would have really really helped on Odom....
