Kobe's will to win > Tmac + Yao's will to win

Our mental approach has to change.

When Dream saw that Robinson got the MVP and didn't mention his name, he made up his mind he was going to destroy him. When has Tmac and Yao ever thought like that?

On TNT one night when Sam Cassell had a great game,
    Magic said

If Sam was on the same court as me, Michael Jordan, and Charles Barkley, Sam would still think he's the best player on the court

    That's the mentality you need

This should be required reading. Most of it is stating the obvious but not everybody can see the obvious.

Unless your answer is we have no leader then I don't know what you mean.

Tracy is not our leader. The only thing he is leading in is heartless play and least movement on either end of the court. Oh yea, he also leads in smiling when he's sucking and we are getting our azzes handed to us. Maybe he learned the latter from Lance Berkman.

Yao is not a leader. He is too nice and too soft to take charge.

Ron Artest is our new leader or we have no leader. Take your pick.

    I hope it's temporary.

I don't know what happened, but I've always had so much of confidence in this team WHATEVER happened during the past few years. Now I feel so lost and don't know if I could say they still have my trust.

    LOL. Exactly.

What are you going to do? Sign a petition asking for some trades and give it to Morey? Threaten Les that you will stop being a Rockets fan and therefore not put any money into the franchise? Call Adelman and ask him to quit or coach the way you'd coach the team?

    I know what happened.

    1. We use to be a good defensive team night in and night out. We used to be the best, or one of the best, defensive rebounding teams in the league. For now, that is no longer the case. Shane will help some but I think it's more than that. Maybe it's coaching. I think Adelman is a good coach but he's not used to this much suckitude.

    2. Tracy used to suck less.

    3. Yao used to suck less.

We need to get more athletic and be fully healthy. At least our 1s unit does. And also, no more ISO's. I'm sick of seeing time being wasted on the clock with one of our big 3 doing absolutely nothing with the ball, ending up with a bad shot or a turn over.

ouch. that doesn't sound too good.

rafer? battier? berry? ab? i don't know. it just doesn't feel right to say ron has become the leader now.

Did you see Ron on the court gathering the guys under the basket with 3 minutes left and the Rockets losing by 20 pts?

He was still giving advice to the young guys like Brooks and Landry. He was still trying. He never gives up. He never believes it's over. He loves playing basketball.

What was Tracy doing? He was sitting on the bench looking like a statue.

What was Yao doing? His hand was on his chin and he had a blank stare on his face.

Ron's heart was still racing. He was still trying. He was still encouraging the guys.

Ron is now the leader of the Houston Rockets. It's not even close.

Leaders don't choose when to be leaders. They are always leaders.

Some people just hear what the media says and believe that Ron can't be a leader.

I don't. I see a guy that never takes a play off no matter what the score is. I see a hard worker that loves the sport.

He may not be the ideal choice but he is the best one we've got right now.

^brooksball, it's not like ron has played exceptionally well either. plus, he's a newcomer to this team.

    But he never gave up.

I didn't say he was playing flawlessly.

I said he is the leader of this team now, in my opinion.

As far as not playing well, he didn't think he was coming here to take Shane's role as well as Tracy's and Yao's roles. He is more than willing to defer but when Tracy is a no show and Yao can't stay on the court, at least he's trying to make things happen.

The point is that he's doing the best than he can on both ends. He's playing with passion and encouraging other players.

I propose that we get what we can with Steve Francis, Luther Head, and Chuck Hayes which isn't breaking news, but needs to be on top of the agenda. So that leaves 3 spots open to be filled not including the roster spot we have left. I would love to see us get Jamal Crawford from NY if we arent going to use Von Wafer. I know it's a stretch with the salaries, but would be great for us off the bench. I'd also like to see us get DJ Strawberry back simply because of his size as a point guard. He makes up for the size rafer and brooks lack. I would consider parting with dorsey to get elson and still try and sign deke.

You dont have to play well or be an oldtimer on a team to be a leader. As long as you show heart and passion to win than the team usually will give the nod. Look at garnett, he joined boston for one season and he was looked up as a leader. You basically are born a leader or your not. I dont see tmac or yao as one, but at least ron has some balls in him and will do whatever that is necessary.

leadership is not about points dude.

Mario Elie was a leader on the Rocket's championship team. He wasn't a scorer machine. if someone cheap shots Dream, Mario was there to get the T. He's not afraid to tell a teammate to man up.

honestly though, i thought rick adelman was suppose to bring us offense, i thought that was why we got him in the first place, because van gundy had us worrying about defense so much, that we forgot about offense, so if adelman isn't helping us with the offense, then exactly wdf is he helping us with?
