Bollocks. Our PG play for most of the season has been stellar, not All Pro 1st team level of PG play, but better then most would expect given most of the season our best scorers were a pair of PFs or one of the point guards themselves. And even now, Brooks has steadly been increasing his assists per game. Martin adds to our options later by having a vet SG. Our rookies so far have been pretty good role players as well. Hill, needs some work but shows a crap load of promise. Budinger and Taylor both have the talents to make excellent bench/role players down the line to sub in for any of our starters. And Andersen while not super impressive, is a nice little extra option that fits with Adelman's previous offensive schemes and could provide a change of pace for when we sit Yao. Personally, I hope we don't get Bosh, dude will cost a mint and that will just reduce future flexibility. Yao, the team will take their time with to make sure he is ready. If anything, this season proved we are in a lot more solid ground then some other teams, we are still challenging for a playoff spot in the west without a major superstar. You don't see that very often.
Your points are good, but unless a fully healthy Yao can play at a high level for most of the season and peak in the playoffs,we have no chance of winning a championship. We cannot be sure whether he will even last through the course even after going through major surgery.
I feel the same way as you do. I also feel that he won't be able to play at his previous level again.
I have been a Rockets fan since 1983. I now live in Austin (past 17 years)and try not to miss any games via my subscription to Directv NBA Package. I drove down to H-town for the game Saturday (Section 117, Row 20) and had a confrontation with a Laker fan wearing Bryant's jersey sitting directly in front of me! (I was sporting my Brooks jersey with my last name on the back...birthday present). They said I was being too loud and that my Rockets Drum was disturbing them!! I said, too bad, I'm going to cheer for my Rockets and bang my drum. Next thing I know, this usher comes over and ask if there's a problem...I said "NO"; the guy in front of me said, "yes, there is a problem...she's being too loud with that drum". I told the usher that I purchased my drum at the Toyota Center and that if I could not use it, Les Alexander had to come and tell me personally that I was being too loud in cheering for and supporting my Rockets! The usher said something I did not hear as he left. By halftime, the folks in front of me left!!! I continued cheering and banging my drum (when warranted) until the buzzer ended the game! We need to show our support!! To hell with the opponent's fans trying to silence us. GO ROCKETS!!! I'm a huge fan and will always support my ROCKETS!!!
