I believe Yao got stripped by Ariza, and then yao went after the ball and shot it while Brooks was open in the corner
landry is a second year player and he's still learning. i like him expanding his range (something we particularly need to have with a yao-centric offense). but tonight he passed up a key open shot, and then failed to control the last offensive rebound when he had it in his hands (after rafer's 2nd missed ft). but i see his game improving, just like ab.
Unbelievable game. I would say the officiating was whack....and it was...but there is absolutely nothing you can do about that. However, making sure that Rafer doesn't have the ball in his hands during crunch time...there is something we can do about that. Making sure that Yao knows we need three points and AB was expecting a pass right back to him in the corner....there is something we can do about that. Making sure that the team plays all out...something has been done about that (thank God). Making sure McLazy isn't on the court to put our offense into neutral...something has been done about that. Every play I have seen RA draw up with less than 24 on the clock when we are down in the stretch has FAILED. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Why???? GIVE NILLA WAFER THE DAMN BALL....the man worked his ass off keeping us in that game and showed all-star talent and we snuff him in the fourth? WTF?
The Rockets played great throughout the game, with the exception of giving up too many offensive rebounds. Battier did as good a job as you can do on Kobe: make him become a jumpshooter. He is a great player, but he will get frustrated at times and take tough shots. However, he is great for a reason, and he showed it in the 4th quarter. That last 3 he made, Battier couldn't have played that any better, after he stopped him once. Just a great shot by a great and talented player. Wafer and Landry had great games as well. Hopefully Wafer can build on this game, and continue to be productive. He reminds me a little bit of Mad Max. He's become a player with the potential to score big, and he plays with a lot of heart, hustle, and fire. He even left Kobe in the dust on that drive in the 4th, too bad he just didn't use the glass the right way. Rafer played a decent game, but those free throws killed us. But great effort nonetheless. Aaron Brooks had a difficult night, having Ariza guarding him all night. That is amazing how versatile Ariza is defensively. Even if Aaron Brooks got by hims, there were tall trees waiting inside to block his shots and deflect his passes. Barry played a nice game as well, giving us some key perimeter shooting. Scola came out with energy as usual, but playing against length always bothers him offensively. Although we lost this game, there were a lot of positives to take from this game. This gives he Rockets hope for the next couple of weeks while Artest and Tmac get healthy. Lets see how this team responds on Saturday...
Coming back from Toyota center. I have to say that was pretty good game. Rockets play pretty well. Just the ref. is pretty good at defense. And Kobe hit the clutch shot. But man, Wafer was amazing. He is unstoppable. And I am glad Deke got to play and score. Let this lineup play couple games, and wait for Artest come back. Rockets will take off again. T-mac will have plenty time to rest.
Wafer's defense on Kobe was amazing, I never seen him be so aggressive with his D, not even on Pierce.
I know you're in full hate mode, but you do remember the playoffs as the Bobby Jackson era, don't you? When Rafer played, the Rockets won in that series.
cause brooks man was all over him, he was gonna pass to yao, run around a bit to get open (which he did, look at the replay) brooks ended up being wide open, all yao had to do we give him the ball back.......or find someone else, or take a dribble back and fire a 3..........but shooting the 2? inexcusable!
This team is making big mental mistakes. Scola doesn't recognize the shot clock, and AB not shooting the 3. They need to wake up .
should've traded for kobe when we had the chance. who woulda thunk how low tmac would be after a knee injury?
. Loss of words... ..... AB was cornered and bounce-passed to Yao without other option, for the sake of god, you are expectiing the pass come back? Did you just say he "was guarded tight"? .... Yao was guarded tight too... Anyway, after "he ran himself open", the time already ran out...
Yao's 3 pointer - Overrated! Yao's mid range jumper - Overrated! Yoa's passing ability - Overrated! I like Yao's effort tonight though he could have done better. Questions are, why can't Yao play like this every game? Why can't Yao rebound like tonight every game? If Yao played like he did in today's game, with the talents around him this season I strongly believe the rockets still can make the playoffs even without T-mac but Yao only play like the best center in the NBA once every 5 games. Why? The myth remains!!!!
take a dribble back and fire a 3? what is Yao's position again? To you, SG I guess There was not enough time for a play like you said, I seldom see clutch play begin from center post up and pass out, it is the explosive drive that creates open shots...
Nonsense. We have won a lot of games with Yao in the fourth quarter. Do you think we could still have a hope of win till the last second without Yao?
I like Yao's game, but Rox need a closer. Shaq had Kobe. He had Dwhistle. Post playing centers can easily get shut down with a hard double team. We need tmac...oh yeah, forgot.
wow just watched rick's press conference after the game and its real short about 2 minutes. he really doesnt like talking to the press, nothing of substance was really said...he liked the effort but felt bad the result was a L. Von played well etc...
Man IF only TMac can come through. I just don't know I will have to wait and see how he looks in his first game back against the Knicks.
I normally say Kobe's clutchess is overrated, but he definitely owned us in the 4th today... ... but good lord is he a whiney little b****.
