Atleast Ariza made a 3..If he didn't we would've lived in where Artest comes back and buried the rockets in their homeground with a clutch 3.
Tough loss but what a game! You have to love how hard this team plays. The Lakers' perimeter D was giving Brooks and Ariza fits (Brooks looked a half step slow today), but the amazing effort by our frontcourt guys kept us in the game. Hayes doing it all yet again. Scola vs. Artest was a great move by Adelman. The Lakers did not look like a team playing a second consecutive OT game in a back-to-back. Pretty scary.
When your frontcourt is scoring at 50% clip and 2 perimeter players take almost the same ammount of shoots as your entire frontcourt then the coach has made a mistake. We didn't have a size problem, we actually outrebounded the Lakers by 6. Brooks was nor carefull enough with the ball and Ariza took it too personal. He should never take 20+ shoots ever again. Landry, Hayes and Scola were fenomenal. Brooks and Ariza own them a good assist night. We should have tried a little more of Landry-Scola frontcourt i think. Even with Hayes playing this good, if Scola and Landry develop chemistry as an inside duo they can be a great weapon. Together they can score from almost anywhere.
Really? You mean you don't know why people would be mad at him for turning over the ball 7 times, along with forgetting how to play PG at times, losing his dribble at the end of the game, and missing 3 freethrows in a game that went into OT?
i think the main problem we have in the game is whenever brooks gets trapped top of the key, the ball ALWAYS goes to Ariza, who either dribbles in traffic to no where, takes a bad shot, or pass it back to brooks. It should be someone who can at least handle the ball that receivs that pass
kinda wish lowry had the ball in his hands late, instead of brooks..would have probably made a better decision... brooks should never pick up his dribble unless he has someone to pass to...but i guess he'll never learn until he experiences it... great effort by everyone though..this is a team everyone will hate playing...scrap and claw for everything..you gotta love it..19 to 9 TOs diff and still had a chance to win...
Actually, during the overtime, the lakers only go to two players: Kobe and Bynum. Kobe's individual ability and Bynum's height. We don't have answer for that. Actually, I think the game was so close because lakers were playing bad.
anyone noticed how pissed off the ref looked after he was forced to overturn the bad call by replay???
On this note, I am glad that Adelman is the coach -- he's a guy who seems to be able to play up his players strengths and mitigate their weaknesses. Tonight's example is Hayes -- really able to contribute despite his limitations (still giving him mad props, trying to take nothing away from him). But RA seems to be a coach that over the course of a season knows how to utilize his players well. I think after a while, Ariza should be used in a proper way. But it's probably good to let him push it a little to see what he can do too. In the absence of a dominant playmaker, I think the Brooks / Lowry combo attacking the rim is as good of a shot that we have as anything -- their handles are generally reliable, and they are good free throw shooters. And their quickness may open up the offense -- I'd say at this point, that's our best "closeout" option available.
I would have loved to have seen the reaction if Cook had hit a game winning 3. Everyone on here would have been like "SIGN HIM UP....5 YEAR DEAL!" Brooks, Ariza and Battier were down tonight unfortunately. You can't get it done with 3/5 starters being down, unless one of your other two are Kobe. The Chuckwagon on the other hand was phenomenal.
The guys was trapped ALL NIGHT!!! The Lakers know NO ONE else on the Rockets can dribble. If you stop Brooks, there is no other threat. At least he shot a decent percentage from the field. Every time Ariza shot tonight is was as good as a turnover.
Judging from Kobe's increased efficiency against Battier, I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe practiced his shot over the summer with his view obstructed, just to counter Battier. Knowing how Kobe is, that wouldn't surprise me one bit. For this year, win/loss ratio is not as nearly as important as the progression and growth of our team. We've got a scrappy bunch of guys that can fight tooth and nails against the defending champs, and we'll only get better as chemistry/experience/health improve. The team's looking good.
he's got Jordan Mode. Switching over to the fade aways most of the time now...i guess we can blame Dream for this loss too
