Our starting lineup was atrocious. Very little ball movement, with mostly McGrady, Artest or Scola going one-on-one or off picks. No real passing or awareness of teammates. Our second unit, was the exact opposite. Beautiful teamwork on both the offensive and defensive side. You can criticize Adelman for not pulling the starters at the end, but I felt he wanted to make a point. He seemed to be saying if it takes a loss for these guys to figure things out, then so be it. A painful lesson, but hopefully one that will help the team down the road.
i miss wafer i miss the way rockets played without tracy and artest they should have adjusted into the team
Yesterday someone was commenting about this team not needing Yao? Well this loss can finally put rest to any doubts.
It's sad because we just beat ourselves. This team doesn't know how to beat sub 500 teams on the road....PERIOD. First they come in overconfident, second they beat themselves and think they can just jack up shots and beat these teams. We went up by 9 and then the team thought they had put them away or something. I bet if this was the Celts, Spurs, Magic, or a team like that, we would have seen MUCH MORE driving to the lane. I'm not even going to blame Tmac...Adelman should have called a T.O everytime someone jacked up a horrible 3 and sat their *** on the bench. I don't mind losing games where we gave our best, but settling for 3 pointers is not our best and we beat ourselves tonight.
Have to agree with you there -- Adelman's rotation was $hit tonight. He took out the guys that were getting the job done to go with Rafer who sucked all night, Ron couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, Tracy only one on the floor besides Scola that could do anything between are starting 5. No Wafer, no landry, no Brooks = Loss to the weak ass Knicks. Was Rick Adelman trying to prove a point to someone tonight?
Talk about role reversal. The Knicks came into tonight's game leading the league in three point attempts at about 29 per game. Our response? We jacked up 33 of our own. This was essentially our downfall: too many ill-advised pull up's from guys that aren't very good shooters in the first place. We needed action inside which is obviously where we miss Yao's presence. Landry and Scola were hot. T-Mac was getting to the basket when he wanted to. We simply can't be so reliant upon the long range shot. Tonight was a horrible choke job *BUT* it was on the 2nd night of a back-to-back and with out Yao again. For that reason I won't complain too much, although Artest killed us tonight. His shot selection is disastrous. Not only that but Adelman's reluctance to pull him in favor of Landry or Wafer helped kill us too. Lay off of T-Mac -- his passing and ability to draw attention helped keep us in the game along with Scola. Scola was magnificent yet again despite the blown lay up. Brooks played well off of the bench and Battier's hustle plays created 3-4 extra possessions in the last five minutes that won't show up on the stat sheet but kept us alive. Props to Landry too.
I know the Rockets can't win playoffs without healthy Tmac and Ron. Maybe that's the reason Adelman kept them on court till the end. But a win is also very important now. The Rockets is not far from dropping out of the top 8 in the west.
adelman = no balls.....shoulda benched Ron and Tmac....but he didnt...he yanked Wafer after he got called for palming when he went to the rack...such a short leash on Wafer...yet ...Rafer and Tmac and Ron...bombaway.... and why the hell did TMAC fadeaway on a wide open 3
I am with you on this Ron and TMac may never get healthy this season to make a serious run in the playoffs and just maybe the team should consider trading both but what can the Rockets get for these two guys?
I swear I just don't get this team ! They looked great for most of last night then they lose to another sorry arse team ! It's hard being a Roxs fan sometimes at least with the Stro's and the Texans you know what your getting !
