Hear hear! Those losses against inferior teams are never "just one loss". Every loss counts, from game 1 to game 82... as all the number-crunching and handwringing elsewhere will attest. Every. Game. Matters.
I know Tmac injured isn't gonna take us anywhere. All I'm saying is, and injured Tmac would know to get the ball to Yao, would get him a good post entry pass, and would play smarter than Ron Artest. Artest was jacking up all kinds of ridiculous shots, turning the ball over, dribbling into traffic, getting his shot blocked, making bad passes or not passing at all. It was horrible to watch and a display of selfishness, in my opinion. He might be trying ot carry our team, but Ron, you aren't that good on offense, and you were horrendus shooting the ball tonight, and you didn't attack the basket, quit taking those contested jumpers!! Thats all I'm trying to say, but I know Tmac injured is not the answer, but I would have enjoyed watching him play through Yao, instead of trying to do everything on his own, that was the only point I was trying to make.
No...Yao and Ron WAS THE REASON. They are our star players...our best ones...If they are going to have bad games like this we have no shot at beating anyone in the playoffs. Wafer and Lowry didn't help for sure, and Barry missing WIDE OPEN threes did not help either...but it starts with those two. If Yao or Artest puts this team on their backs like they have been doing the past few games...we could have won...but they've shown us now against Utah that we shouldn't expect it. Thats why i'm not mentioning Landry...he's a good player but it starts with Yaoza and Ron Ron. Those guys have to play better in games like this.
read my post more closely. I siad Millsap is getting more minutes than he normally does AS A BACK UP. Last year he get few minutes behind Boozer, now that he broke out during Boozer's injury, the jazz have more faith in him. When boozer initially came back they benched Millsap , but then they realized they could work him in more and even play him alongside Boozer. So then they increased his minutes recently. And before you try to reply to this check out the stats yourself if you dont believe me. Booze came back and millsap played 15-20 mins for a few games, but the last 6 games or so he's played 20-30 mins.
At least Yao grabbed a lot of rebounds and stuffed the j*zz on several occasions, nice to see he has permanently improved his defense.
Decision making is terrible. There are way too many bad decisions made by the rockets in this game. 1. Artest seems to ALWAYS wave Yao off. There was one instance where Yao had Boozer pinned deep (like, Yao could throw it up vertically and it would go in deep), but Artest was like, "nah, I'll take it in myself and make it." 2. Wafer and Lowry seemed to switch to a mindset of "It's on me to win this game"-itis or something, in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Doug Collins hit it on the head when he said these two fast guards are taking Scola, Battier, and Yao out of the game completely. 3. There were several instance where the ball was passed to Battier, in which he took one look inside, saw that Yao was TRYING to get position (so he didn't have it yet), and Battier passes back to the person that passed it to him on the perimeter, which by then, Yao had gotten pretty good position. If Shane would have waited for two seconds, it would have most likely gone to Yao, who would probably have taken that shot. We need to take a long, hard look at ourselves before the next game with the Clippers. We can't afford to make bad decisions. Not against the Jazz. Not against the Clippers. Not against anyone.
dont even argue with him R....hes a lost cause...... he called brewer a scrub player earlier..............talked about his fantasy league............lol
and as far as Tmac goes, there's no point to wonder if he's help or if he'd be a cancer, BUT, it is important to realize we're a star player short and it's really incredible to think we still have a team that can compete like this. Of course well wish they could have a championship run, but when you bash the team for not being equal to ot better than teams that are at full strength it's not fair to them at all. There's never an excuse for not playing hard, perhaps tonight they didn't all do that, but let's not freak out later if they do bust their ass and still come up short.
They've had bad games before and we've won. The problem was that they couldn't get any rest. Any time they would go to the sideline, Lowry and Wafer would completely screw things up and force our starters back on the floor. Tonight was a bad night for the bench... THAT was the reason we lost this game. You can't expect them to have a 34-9 advantage against our main bench players and us to win the game. Yao and Ron can carry some of the load, but the bench completely sucked it up tonight, and they were the reason we lost.
Ron Artest has the WORST shot selection in the NBA of any good player. The man has no bball IQ on the offensive end of the court. If your shot is off, attack the basket! Don't take off balanced jumpers or contested 3's. If they take away your drive, then give it to Yao, and he'll get you a wide open 3 right away or 2 points on his own. Its really frustrating watching him at times. I know Brooks doesn't always get the ball to Yao either, but atleast he'll try to attack the basket, and he's the smallest guy on the court every night. But if you don't give Yao the ball, don't take a quick 3, and Brooks did do that a couple of times, which is also very frustrating. Why on Earth would you not give it to the guy who can score the easiest and give you easier shots as well?? Just baffles me sometimes... Lowery played aggressive, but he just couldn't finish tonight. I can live with that. He'll make those layups on most nights. Wafer needs to calm down at times. I like the aggressiveness, but damn, don't go 1-on-3 on a fast break, you aren't Lebron! you are a 6'4 shooting guard, who can't handle the ball very well in traffic. slow it down, and get it to a point guard. Battier's shooting touch is coming back a lil bit and he played good defense today and rebounded well. Scola hit his shots today, but had some trouble with the physicality of Boozer and Milsap early on, and Okur was just hitting some crazy shots tonight, so can't blame Scola for that either. We really missed Landry tonight. Hayes did what he had to do, and he didn't disappoint. Yao, played okay today, but he has to be careful on those passes out of the double teams. He also missed some easy shots, but he made up for that with his rebounding and shot blocking. He's learning how to affect the game even when his shot isn't falling. But overall, I think we tried play too fast and ignored Yao, and relied on the 3 pointer way too much, plus we missed a bunch of lay ups. Defense kept us in it til the 4th, but When Ron Artest goes 5/22 and doesn't do much else except get burned by Ronnie freakin Brewer (a decent role player;not a star), then its gonna be hard to win any games.
if the rockets would freakin know what they were doing on offense we'd be fine. im pretty sure the jazz defense wasnt all that great. can we look any less competent at times? w/ the exception of battier, no one really stepped up. if we play smarter, im sure the shots would fall. yes carl landry would've helped immensely but instead of focusing on what we dont have we should be looking at what we do have. hopefully we figure it all out real soon.
First of all your right, so wat if millsap play more minutes than brewer or boozer went out and this or that improved or I don't pay attention to jason kapono on the raptor or luke walton more than kobe bryant LOL .... But wow brewer 13.9ppg this season but against houston rockets 20+, this is wat I care if you let him play like a superstar no wonder its an ass whoop
I agree with 1. Agree about wafer, but i think Lowry got stuck in bad situations where there wasn't anything to go to and he had to make something happen. Remember he was in there with chuck, so that always limits the offense more. As for #3, its a lose-lose situation. If Shane swings it around, then fans say the entry passer should have been more patient. If the entry passer holds the ball to wait on Yao, then he gets called out for stopping the ball movement. That's entirely on Yao, he needs to establish position early or the team can't, and shouldn't. pass to him.
