I'm saying you should look back at the history of teams who have won 20 or more games. There is always a lull after the winning streak and for this team, it looks like the lull is do to fatigue(be it mental or physical, or both). So no, I'm not saying this team is playing more games than other teams, I'm saying they are exhausted, and the team has enough energy to get through the first half of these games but runs out of gas in the second half.
I went and looked up Woods' stats, lets just say that I hope there are other possibilities. This guy averages about 2.5 min a game for his career. Basically the coach for the teams he's played for did not trust him to be in there for that long of a period in the game.
If some of you Hitler personnas are wondering where to find that info, simply go to the recap section on ESPN for last nights game. Um, if you don't understand, it is a given that the first game was an L(hence the snapping of the streak), so the chart starts with the second game. The Rockets aren't the first team to lose two in a row after a historic run. Here's what the teams with the NBA's all-time win streaks did in the games after the streak was over: Streak Team Next four 33 1971-72 Lakers W, L, W, L 22 2007-08 Rockets L, ?, ?, ? 20 1070-71 Bucks L, L, W, L 19 1999-2000 Lakers W, L, W, L 18 1995-96 Bulls L, W, W, W 18 1981-82 Celtics W, W, W, L 18 1969-70 Knicks W, W, W, L
Sorry guys but the losses are on me. Unfortunately statistics don't lie. Rockets just don't play well on or around my B-day. 06-07 Sun 18 @ Philadelphia W 124 - 74 42-25 05-06 Sat 18 San Antonio L 77 - 92 29-37 04-05 Fri 18 Boston L 92 - 103 39-26 Sun 20 @ Minnesota L 86 - 94 39-27 03-04 Fri 19 @ Golden State L 84 - 90 39-28 Tue 18 @ Seattle L 94 - 100 35-31 02-03 Wed 19 @ Portland L 83 - 94 35-32 01-02 Mon 18 @ L.A. this is why Rockets have so many injuries. The stupid coaches play the starters way too many minutes.
The loss last night and the night before has taken a devastating toll on you. You need a reference to a good psychiatrist more than anything.
Now I look back, The Streak was truely amazing, in that we lost Yao after Win 12, then Yao's best replacement Landry also went down like 6 games before the one against the Celts, so the Rockets were basically DEPLETED on the frontline, yet they still kept The Streak going until 22. Recent 2 losses were basically due to poor 3-point shooting, which just happens to teams at times, especially against good defensive teams. But because Yao was out, there was virtually NO post offense by the Rockets and they had to rely on jump shots (after Yao went out, it's been apparent that we got a lot less open looks on 3's cuz no one's double teaming Mutombo). These 2 L's showed how much Yao is being missed, and are probably a more accurate reflection on that frontline depletion. It all makes me wonder though, what the Rockets can do next season IF both Yao and McGrady stay healthy.
It all makes me wonder though, what the Rockets can do next season IF both Yao and McGrady stay healthy. That won't ever happen. We have to live with that. Individuals without balls always find themselves going through periods from time to time.
To elaborate on what AntiSonic said, there is little doubt that Yao's excessive minutes contributed to his stress fracture. The ONLY criticism I have had of Adelman thus far is that he has a tendency to 'overplay' some of the key players. I fear McGrady's excessive playing time leading up to the playoffs will either contribute to an injury/reaggravation of an old one OR leave him with nothing left in the tank when the playoffs roll around.
