That Miami defense was salty in the second half. Rockets couldn't find a way to stop Wade as usual. That "flagrant" was freaking sad. Good game, but the Rockets ain't better than the Heat. Their defense is what it is, and it's not going to bother Miami much. Jordan Hill got some real minutes in the fourth. He really seems to play best at forward, though. This guy is not a center. Pleased with his progress regardless, and a little surprised he was playing so late in the game.
Rox did not lose because of it, but that flagrant foul definitley helped the Heat win this game. Dumb ass Bavetta!
Nobody should be complaining about calls. As a team we actually shot more FTs than the Heat (40 to 37) but they made more free throws (Mr. Ice Cold Clutch Joel Anthony). However, I have to say that flagrant foul on Wade was questionable, but we also failed to execute, grab rebounds and even try to stop Wade.
We lost this game at the end because we stopped running (and taking advantage of the fact they played last night. The Heat were trying to slow it down to rest the whole game) And we needed to pack in the middle on wade earlier and force a role player to make a shot and beat us. But I can't be too mad about our game (losing still sucks though, and we need to practice and win next game) You are in the playoff race guys, catch up and beat these guys above us.
I agree...defense is relative to the game. It's not always as night and day as "Oh they shot 58%, horrible defense." Go back and see some of the shots they were making. How many times did we run their shooters off the shot only to leave Arroyo (who you want to leave open) and he drains the shot? How many times did Bosh drain a contested jumper fading away, Lebron as well? How many times did Lee force Wade to hit a contested jumper over him? As Phil Jackson said about us...give them some F'n credit.
8 on 5 - Bavetta's team should have been wearing Heat uniforms instead of pinstripes. The NBA should do away with the "star system," even if it means Kmart doesn't get to the line as often.
They where making some crazy shoots, Wade specially, Bosh make some crazy turnarounds, and Lebron was making his outside shots and make FTs while playing 40 min. If Miami is making their outside shots is really difficult to stop. Mami has won 15 of the last 14 games they are playing great.
I actually thought Martin competed on defense pretty well -- better than he has in most games. Wade was just sensational on his drives.
Next time we see MIA, we have to pack the paint. Regardless of what they do, we need to see that from our boys.
You guys can't keep saying oh Wade just made some tough shots, he makes tough shots for a living and it became so much easier when no one out there is going to try and block your shots.
How many points did Miami score in the paint? Indication of poor defense when you can't stop layups, after layups. Every team contests shots, the good defensive teams force you to shoot low % shots.
Hayes didn't seem to have much of an effect on Bosh. Maybe forced him to take some tough fadeaways, but Bosh was making them consistently. It's the first time this season I've the Hayes effect not work on a star power forward. Man, even as a work-in-progress, this Miami team could win it all.
The only complaint I had with the defense was the scheme, not sure why KMart was so up on Wade outside...let him have space and close on the jumper...I thought Battier did great on Lebron and Bosh was just on fire....but Wade should have been forced to shoot jumpers...he lived in the paint....bad D by Martin...really bad. DD
To do what? He's not stopping Wade. Can't argue with what AB during his minutes.. 20 and 9 with 0 turnovers.
