This is laughable. Scola is light years ahead of Hill in terms of basketball skill and consistency. His level of play far exceeds his physical limitations. Hill, on the other hand, is a limited player. His offense is limited to dunks and short jumpers and he's foul prone. He'd get roasted as a PF. I can't wait to hear what the hue and cry will be if they let Scola go and have to depend on Hill to score 15-20 something points a game.

He isn't untouchable, but he is smarter than Hill. Defensively,Luis makes mistakes but his lack of athleticism hurts him as well. Hill can compensate for the quick 4's to some extent, but he gets in foul trouble quite quickly.

That would be two games in a row for Scola.

Yeah, but there is a such thing as being a dictator. Phil demands the same from his players, as does Sloan, Pop, and any other coach worth their salt. Their players don't end up whining about it and calling for the coach to be fired though. Sometimes you run too tight a ship also. Mavs have done just fine since then, especially now.

As for Hill, yeah no one is saying he's special. As in Blake Griffen Special. But we never will know and look at the numbers he puts up in limited minutes. They are very good. Yet this guy would have been luck to see 3 mins a night in a Knicks jersey. They thought he was a scrub and he's far from that.

Scola is FAR from being untouchable also. You're telling me you would not trade Scola for Varejao or McGee straight up, and then have a front court of PPat and Hill? Also Landry is out there to be had, i'm sure he wouldn't mind coming back off the bench for the Rockets.

That doesn't matter. You'd make this move to get Hill PT and for him to learn on the job. My point is this and only this, I'm NOT saying Hill is better than Scola.

I am saying Hill will not continue to grow as a player in his current role. That's it. You can keep saying he'd get roasted and won't produce yet he hasn't had the chance to prove that. He also plays better man post Defense than Scola, his only faults are weakside rotations (something that comes with experience) and going out to get the man which Scola fails at any ways.

Luis has played professional ball much longer than Hill, so all this is to be expected. Especially the foul trouble. Pretty much every young big man has problem with this from Yao to Shaq to Dwight and even Blake Griffen today.

I find it odd though some are saying he can't do this and that...yet we have players on this team that were very much like Hill. Had to fight their way up the depth chart to become a starter, pretty much our entire starting 5 outside of Battier are guys like that.

Mavs are doing fine now because for the first time in years, they don't have a doorknob at center named Bradley or Dampier. With Haywood & Chandler they actually have a legitimate post presence and that has elevated their defense which ironically was what Avery wanted to do. He was dead on about that team not being championship caliber.

I'll have to take your word here. My source at the Mavericks laughs hysterically when I tell him about all of hope and anticipation around here for Williams.

No one is untouchable on this team that's in transition. If that deal could actually occur in this universe, I be all for it. But I doubt it could ever happen. It's too bad the Rockets front office isn't like SA who somehow manages to stash foreign players overseas until they have a need for them. Wouldn't mind getting Landry back however.

Rox stopped doubling Lebiya and playing hard on the help on DWoman. Bosho was hitting everything. Simply cannot play one on one d on these guys and that's exactly what we did in the fourth. Not to mention they got out on the break and stupid and 1 fouls.

I thought Martin should have been the one touching the ball in the last minute.

I admit that physically and athletically he's better than Scola. But Scola is a better basketball player NOW. How long do you suppose it would take for Hill to show the same consistent level of skill and production as Scola? 2 years? 3? All I'm saying is that you would be taking a huge chance doing this especially in the Western Conference. Trial by fire I suppose. I liken what you're want to do with Hill to what the Texans did with Kareem Jackson and we all know how well that has worked out.

well I agree though Scola for McGee or Varejao ain't happening straight up. Since he has a pretty hefty contract now, it is much more likely he's part of a bigger deal and goes to a contending team any way rather than teams like the Cavs or Wiz who are pretty much in the same position we are.

I have hope for Williams because Rick has done one thing really well since being here, he's developed these young players. Brooks, Lowry, Hill, Lee Chase(at one point...), Landry. All these guys weren't good prospects coming into the NBA, but under Rick he has made these guys look good. Look what we got for Landry when we traded him. T-Will was a pretty high prospect, and Net fans seem to be disappointed they let him go for the price we paid.

Simply, I like an atlethic player like T-Will in this offense. If he can't thrive in this system then there is not much hope for him.

We scored 119 and you're focusing on the offense? Think about that for a sec...

Our inabilities and what we we need: -

    1. a big man to protect the rim on defence, also ability to draws double teams down low in offence.
    2. a wing player who can consistantly score in the paint, by attcking the rim. Ability to create plays, also defend opposition wings and help out with rebounds.

Scola is not answer to number 1 and neither is HIll, Scola mostly shoots 10-15 footers these days and has that one shot down low - the scoop. He is not a banger inside and cant defend for crap. Martin is not the answer to number 2 but T-Will could be. Martin cant defend nor can he cerate for others. He gets to tthe free throw line by faking jump shots away from the rim and then drawing contact. Its a pu$$y move in my book.

Thats why Hayes and Battier are required in the lineup to counteract their defensive inabilities. We are stuck with a bunch of role players who only specialise on one thing. Our guys need other role players who specialise in roles to cover up for their weaknesses. That is not the ingridients required for a champiosnship team.

Yeah, Yeah it was designed for Yao and TMAC but they were injured. Thats the past and it was hard to watch. But its really time to move forward now. I cant wait for Feb 25th to come.

That's a tough loss considering how well we played for most of the game, but it's hard to be too upset about it. We showed a lot of heart and a lot of improvement on the defensive end. If Wade hadn't been ballin out of his mind we would have won this.

You are right by the huge chance. The difference is what the Texans did they had a legit contending team. They were supposed to finish at least 2nd in their division...AT LEAST. Texans had more to lose especially since their franchise player isn't getting any younger.

This Rox team has no such expectations. So failing here isn't really a big deal...but holding onto Scola doesn't help much with this lineup as constructed. This team isn't going to finish 1-4th in the west, there is no such risk.

Thats why the very first thing I said then was rox need to decide are they contending for a playoff spot...or are they rebuilding?

I just don't see Scola in the long-term future for this team unless we acquire a Carmelo Anthony or even a Granger.

so I come home from work and I know Houston lost. I saw the score all night go up and down on my phone, but the Rockets were always in it (tho I saw a 9-pt lead for Miami near the end of the the 4Q).

I decided that I wanted to watch the game anyway, because I was really looking forward to it and thought we had a good shot. We didnt lose by much and I wanted to see if it was a complete Rockets letdown, a worthy duel, or wtvr.

Through 3Q this was a fantastic game, and although the 4th had its moments... I just saw something that got on my dam nerves. Wade is running to the basket, raises the ball, but as he is leaping and raising, Brooks goes for a swipe on the ball and hits Wade's face because Dwayne raised it quickly.

so great... it was going to be a reg foul, but E. SPO talks to the refs and its changed to a late flagrant??? STUPID. So he makes both of those, and on the next PLAY, Wade drives in, and leans off to the side opposite of Lee, kicks his leg out, and flies sideways while shooting and makes the basket.

    FOUL. W T F?????

makes FT, 5-pt play, and im betting you this is what changes all momentum to the game. what the f#$^&ing h3ll?? The on the next play, Budinger goes in for a layup and is fouled, arm hitting him on the back of the head and back, no call, and Jordan Hill is then fouled in the lane... but no FTs. So Bud doesnt get FTs because of no whistle, and Jordan is tangled in 3 guys and we just get the ball back.

I just paused it and wanted to type this... because I think I know why we started losing this game. I think mid-quarter we really got the wind kicked out of us by Wade going crazy and the refs going silent.

oh and ALSO... why does James and his coach get to stomp around, yell, clap their hands after a play, argue with refs... without ANYTHING called on them? I've seen Lebron mouth off TWICE so far quickly and nothing. I've seen him arguing with a ref about a play. nothing. I've seen Spolestra arguing with a refs twice. You give us a couple tech FTs and take away that god-awful 5-pt possession and we couldve won.

anyways... thats my rant. I think Houston has played a hell of a game, and im proud of them. You cant beat everyone, and Miami is hottest in the league. Theyve been killing EVERYONE and they barely scraped by us... and needed a little help to get there. I wish Battier and Hill had played better.

I also wish Martin wouldve kept attacking Wade. Dwayne had 3 fouls in the first half, but I dont remember 1 so far in the 2nd half. You get him in trouble, the Heat lose.

good game. we'll be back at .500 soon, nite clutchfans.

also... Miami has 97 pts at the 8.35 mark. I cannot believe we allow them to score 28 pts in the final 8min. geez. I guess we make 24... but still gah.

well, I just watched the sad ending. That was the quietest 45pts I've ever seen. The only thing that bothered me a lot down the stretch was this one play where Scola had the ball and was backing it in. Wade came from behind and fouled him for a steal... no call. It wouldve been 2 FTs if correctly called because he got a lot of arm.

Instead, with no whistle, Wade gets down to the other side of the court and makes a layup. He was defended pretty well, just made the shot. It just never shouldve happened tho... that 5-pt possession, and 2 missed calls down the stretch really hurt the Rockets chances of keeping this closer than it was.

The Heat did what they needed to do to win, and were the better team - the more consistent team. They werent a lot better tho by any means. I honestly think 2-3 plays decided the outcome of this game. We have a lot to be proud of, this isnt just any 15-16 team. I think we'll win more in January than people may think.

do you think Bosh had a poor game too? Scola outscored and outrebounded him. Luis may not be a god on the defensive end, but he outplayed his counterpart and is part of the reason we were in the game at all.

Scola haters make me laugh. He didnt have a great rebounding game, but Bosh wasnt grabbing rebs over him or anything either. He did his job and altho he had some mistakes... so did his teammates and Miami counterparts.

I agree on missed FTs and horrible calls tho. Martin missed 3, and I'm tired of this whole 1 for 2 thing Scola, Hayes and Lowry are doing lately.

thats a bit unfair. Wades numbers of 17-24 ballooned their stats, and if he hadnt made some VERY DIFFICULT shots then they wouldve shot below 50% as a team. He made some incredible drives and jumpers... and sometimes you just have to credit the player. It wasnt like Houston was just leaving him open. Martin got steals off him, Lee played him well, and then he still just made almost everything he put up. On average he'd make what... 11 of 24 shots? Well, that puts Miami at 37 for 74, and Rockets win. lol.
