Heck yes.....Adelman didn't substitute in the 2nd half last game for squat, rant them into the ground. Weak coaching....very weak. DD
Defense was terrible tonight. Rafer played like a changed man. FWIW, Rockets were almost coming back (bench was great Lowry+Budinger), unfortunately it was 90 seconds too late.
Rafer had one of these games with us every blue moon. Normally when he had played horribly offensively for around 10 games in a row, he would pull one these games out, to deflect attention from his offensive inaptitude.
Budinger's offensive ability is obvious but he still needs work on his defense. In both halves of the game, the Heat kept feeding the ball to Budinger's man who immediately posted him up (Q Richardson IIRC). The result was usually a score or a foul. Yes, Budinger was scoring points, but he was effectively giving a lot of them back on the other end.
Game like this really really shows how much we're hurting without a serviceable shotblocker. Wade just killed us. For all the b****ing we do about Yao, I think this year we should all realize that despite his obvious weaknesses, he is a damn good defender.
This is true, but if I remember correctly, the starters got us deeper in the hole. Anyway, at least Budinger should have been out there. The bench has been terrible because teams are double teaming Landry, and he hasn't figured out how to deal with it yet.
I say find a way to coach around that. It's not like Shane is shutting his man down, Wade had 37 points. Move Buddinger to the weaker offensive player, double his man, or play a zone. But, I wouldn't want to use the defensive liability reason as a justification to keep his offense out of the game, especially when the other wings aren't shutting their men down.
Alston's shooting was probably an anomaly but I think he fits very well with that Heat team. After years of playing with McGrady, Rafer seems to know how to play off of star wing players. A good pickup by Miami.
Great point. If no one is playing defense effectively, you might as well send the offensive guy out there.
He has those in about 15% of his games when he goes damn nuts and no one can seem to stop him. The problem is it's about 15% of the time. Miami played extremely, and simply outbigged us. Honestly, this game shows that the big problem is much more crucial than the wing problem. In a sense, it's not as big of a deal as we have a good big waiting in the long term, but it means we'll struggle in scenarios like these this year. Unfortunate, but that's how it is. But man, you fair weather fans are annoying, panicking whenever we lose.
