I don't know why all you girls are panicking when 2 of the big 3 were out. Take 2 of the 3 best players off any team and they would probably lose to the grizzlies. You guys don't give the grizz any credit. They're pretty good this year and have kept most games close.
I am not a yao basher and believe it or not i am actually a fan of his (behind being a fan of the rockets) but i seriously dont see how anyone can make up excuses for Yao after he play games like this one? it happened so often this season. wake up people!!
never an individual player can single-handedly destroy a team. saying what you said just shows your, um, inexperience. yao played poorly tonight, no doubt. but since when is he, or any other center, responsible for the whole front line of the other team? what is marc gasol's numbers tonight? what is darko's? to say yao got "dominated" is totally baseless.
Last time I checked little missy, Artest and McGrady did not play for Memphis either. When you have what is suppose to be the most dominating big man in the game you are suppose to be able to beat one of the worst teams in the NBA.
And another thing i dont get is why are people starting to compare yao to lesser centers now? have yao gone this low?? u know he's better than this
THE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOOOO DEFENSE. a 7'6 guy cant get rebounds. THAT WAS r****dED. THIS GAME WAS PATHETIC. I was all excited and then i was all like WTF is goin on. THIS WAS SAD!! THey made us look like ****.!!!
Yao played pretty well considering he only got 8 shot attempts. 50% shooting is something I'll take any day. You guys act like he shot 4-20 or something. Not his fault rockets don't pass to him. Hakeem wouldn't have a great stat line with only 8 shots.
Yao are clearly the inexperienced one. I have seen each one of those players single handedly dominate teams with much better front courts than what Memphis has.
Well you already brought up dwight howard and the grizz beat orlando, so I guess you have to take back your comment on howard since even he couldn't beat the grizz.
Umm wrong and i can prove this but i dont have time to look up the link right now. Even when Hakeem is not effective offensively he still rebound the ball like mad and play great defense unlike Mr. Ming aka best center in today's league
Yeah I watched it. The grizz announcers kept wondering why the rockets don't pass to yao and said even they could pass it to him from where they were sitting.
that was a response to a post that doesn't have the fact to support itself and is totally illogical. should yao play better than this? of course. should he outplay the opposing center most of the time? certainly. but remember, even stars have off games. no exceptions. and, stars, or role players, they are all relative - by comparison. and many are attribute this loss SOLELY to yao. that is just freaking insane.
give some examples, please. define "single-handedly", too. and it now is "dominate", not "destroy" any more? lol.
Come to think of it Yao had a quite decent game tonight. We just sorely needed another scorer and the defense just wasn't there.
You are the only insane person around here. yeah everybody can have a bad game offensively but there is no excuse for having only 4 rebounds at 7'6, you cant just make up an excuse for it. he had 2 days of rest and he go out and grabed 4 rebounds for us, come on.
I would say that many here are just complaining, i understand is a tought loss to a team in formation but the complains i feel are just given away without any analysis. First of all, you can´t blame the loss on head, why? the guy is one of the least used players of the roster, because he is a bad player, or whatever reason, he is not a regular rotation player for big moments, and that´s why you cant blame him, don´t expect bad players to have good games, if he has one or two, great, but that will never be the usual Head. Second, while Yao wasn not the cause of the loss, he played horribly, to say the least, with any other big player on the roster he should havle played 10 minutes less minium. Some say he didnt get touches, he had 4 turnovers, and was unable to control like 4 or 5 other passes to him when he was fronted, as a result, guards didnt pass him the ball when fronted because he was catching 1 out of ten. Third T-Mac and Artest out, we are talking about players that right now are shooting about 40%, today all players but head (1-8) and hayes (0-1) shoot OVER that percentage, annd let me remind you that nor Artest or T-Mac are dominating right now, so it´s important but cannot be quoted as THE REASON. Fourth Bad coaching or "the adelman way doesn´t fit the team" what do you expect Adelman to do (besides not playing hayes) when your only superstar fails to get 6+ rebs in a game, we were outrebounded by only 4 rebs, so the team robounded well, yao didn´t and adelman has no control over that or the constant momentum killer turnovers this team had. So, some of the critics here sometimes list the bad things this way. Yao is not a superstar and is soft. T-Mac is a soft superstar and is not durable. Artest doesnt fit the team well. Adelman is not the right coach for this team. Then, you realize that this team has 3 "star" players, 2 of them play the same position, and one of them is unable to carry a team by himself. And the coach is not iideal for this team. Then you have to blame the management. Because Yao was brought here for comercial reasons, Artest is here because we get him on the cheap and Adelman is here to apply his way of coaching, so the management has quite a big fault in all this, not to say they failed to get a big to spare yao this kind of night when he got as many rebounds as Oberto averages... whaaa. Things that needed to be done this offseason were. Getting a big, failed. Getting our superstar to be durable, failed Getting out of the first round... will see.
rebounding is probably your last straw on bashing yao tonight. fyi, yao has ususally had problems in rebounding against athletic front court. yet he's still the one with the highest #'s in reb's in terms of avg on this rockets team. his reb rate has been consistent and very decent. avg 10 reb's per game does not mean you have to get 10 every game. in reality it's more like 14, 10, 7, 5, 13... and please, let's not go to the "he's freaking 7'6 so he should grab every/more rebounds" route. that has been beaten to death many times already.
