No, it wouldn't. None of those players are true point guards. None of those players can create shots effectively off the dribble. Lowry and Miller were key to our offense in the 4th quarter. And Kevin Martin guarding Korver or Deng is a recipe for disaster. Their wings move without the ball too well, and Martin defends off the ball too poorly.
yeah, i think people forget that if you leave too much time on the clock it can come back to haunt you. The fouling technique works best when there's barely enough time to rebound and put up a shot. On that play, rose got away from them and by the time they caught up he was ready to launch. and if we foul and it backfires, then the team still gets hated on...maybe the odds would have been better, but Rose deserves A LOT of credit. He's one of the few that could get such clean look off.
I agree with you that the Rockets did a good job rallying throughout the fourth. That line up gives you shooting at every position, defense, and free throw shooting. Martin deserves to play. Korver and Gibson are good on offense, but they are not physical enough so that you have to take Martin out of the game.
why didnt we foul at the end of the game? i will always love my rockets but......this defense sucks period......on the game tying 3 at the end of regulation all we had to do was foul.....when noah had the ball before he passed it off FOUL HIM game over.....i just dont understand it worst case its the same result
I made a point in the middle of my rant. And besides, I WOULDN'T live with either a 90% or 70% free-throw shooter choking because a miss is a miss whether you shoot well or crappy from the line regularly. And percentages don't mean much at the end of close games when ANYBODY could make or miss one or two free-throws.
It was usually the 1 and 5 playing pick and roll on the Bulls side. Miller would have to rotate out the the arc, while Rose drove in. Miller wasn't in an opportune spot most of the time to get rebounds. I'm not saying that I like him getting 0 'bounds, but when he shoots 4/9 from behind the arc, give him a break? Noah is a great rebounder, and Boozer is a decent rebound. We got killed on the boards tonight, not because we suck at rebounding, but because they are exceptional at it.
With under 30 seconds in the game and Chicago forced to foul, it was a FT contest. There was absolutely no need for a "defensive combination" anymore, since we could have given them wide open layups(which many teams elect to do) and still won, as long as we made our FTs. In that case, put your best damn FT shooter in the game.
To those that keep saying we needed Lee in the game for defense. No not really. if you make your FTs you don't need to play intense defense. People forget Martin bought us BACK in the game in the 3rd. He was not playing horrible defense any ways.
Oh, and I'm very surprised that Rose was 0-0 from the FT line. He didn't attempt any? That is pretty ridiculous.
You're right on that, i thought y'all were saying he didnt' rebound late...but zero overall is pretty bad, but i'd still only expect a low amount in 24 minutes and hanging out at the three on offense.
You foul him on the catch...don't even let him get the shot up....not sure what you are implying he is not "The FLASH"... DD
Lee tried to foul Rose but couldn't catch him. Still should have fouled Noah but Adelman made the right call.
They managed 6 points. 4 points in the first 3 possessions, which is just fine, and then they split the free throws on the last two possessions. You've got a 70% FT shooter who's actually better than that, and you have a 90% FT shooter in Brad Miller taking them. I can live with that. Don't need a PG in the most important stretch of the game? Really?
Having Lee in the game during a critical possession was almost asking the basketball gods to push Rose over 9000. Have to recognize these things.
