We really have to figure out this fronting issue w/ Yao. Is Yao lacking upper body strength to get in front of them? I think Scola needed to screen off Miller and get Yao on Tyrus Thomas.
Ron ballhogging at the end cost the team the game. He try to be the hero by going for the homerun rather than driving to draw foul or get some easy baskets. Sure he's been shooting well..but when the ball go to him, everything stop moving. They need to pass more ......
I have no idea what Adelman was thinking. Why does he do something so stupid instead of sticking with what has worked so far in our 6 game winning streak.
Relax ... not once did I say that "Yoa sucks." I said that him not being able to get position on Brad Miller is "ridiculous," & THAT is the reason we lost the game. Everyones expressing OPINIONS here, right? See the coorelation between THAT & Ron having to chuck it at the end? DER Yao certainly doesn't suck ... but everyone here is quick to say that ARTEST is what lost us the game, or that Brooks lost us the game ... & I'm telling YOU (imo) <<< that means "in my opinion" >>> that YAO LOST US THE GAME with his inability to get any position whatsoever on the journeyman Brad Miller. We should & DO expect more from Yao. Even if Rose hit every shot he took, we should have at least hit a few of our own, specifically going to OUR bread & butter i.e. Yao - to easily win that game. Imagine the day that Hakeem or Shaq or Dwight Howard wouldn't be able to even TOUCH the ball in final 6 minutes. Would never, ever happen. It shouldn't with Yao either. If he misses his shots, fine, I can live with that ... but not being able to figure our a front by Brad Miller?
Guys, we wouldn't really be in the game without Ron Ron. Yao was obviously not going to get the ball because he's too slow to fight the front.
Yeah, Adelman's style has him stick with a core group of guys throughout a game rather then using the bench unless there is a favorable matchup. Which to me leads to problems because you run the risk of not only wearing your starters down to the point of ineffectiveness, which I think is part of the reason we have these 4 quarters where we bleed out on both sides of the ball. While I get that Mutumbo isn't as fast or offensively viable as Yao or Scola at the five, he really should get more minutes when you are trying to conserve Yao or because of foul trouble. And when the other team is forcing their way to the basket with one or two guys like Rose and Gorden like we saw happen in the 4th, having a true shot blocker could have helped us there, since running no less then 3 starters at a time, gave most of them barely any rest.
they lost because they lost. Its sad that a team can have a 17 point lead with 6 mins left to go in the game and lose but hey it happens. Its not the end of the world. This lost tells us we need or should find someone with experience at the point
In all seriousness, if Landry was in the game, would he have scored 4 points throughout? And where the hell was Scola towards the final few minutes??
This lost tells us a lot of things that the team keeps forgetting, as it has happened about half a dozen times to us. I hope that this time is a wake up call for all parties involved, from the coach down to the players. Derrick Rose is a great young player, but him working over AB and Yao being fronted, should not have cause us to have only one or two FG in an entire quarter.
What I was thinking last night was, why was Yao in the game in the beginning of the 4th? I mean that was a change compared to the other 6 games we'd won. We were up by 17 at that point, so there was no point of keeping him in at the beginning of the 4th. We wasted so much time in trying to get the ball into Yao, but we knew we couldn't and the shot clock kept running down leading to a bad shot. If Yao had had some rest in the beginning of the 4th and we'd have him in around the 5 minute mark (when the Bulls started to make their run) then we would have been good. Miller wouldn't be as anxious to front Yao (I mean he hadn't done it all game until the 4th Q) and we would probably have at least 20 points in the quarter killing Chicago's run. That's my take on it.
It all comes down to ball movement and picks. the rockets failed to spot open players the last few minutes. Now the players werent open at first, but once a rocket made a move, the player opened up, but by then the rocket was comitted to trying to score. And no it wasn't just Ron, Scola did the same thing when he got called for charging. They just need to be a bit more patient and not have tunnel vision. the other thing is picks. The rockets weren't using picks much or used them/set them poorly. This is were chuck comes in, he should have played. the guy is a great picker and he would have definitely given Aaron or wafer enough time to disrupt the D. As great as Rose is he gets an edge by having his defender picked very well by a big body like Noah, this gives his a step on his opponent and when you add that step to his already quick first step, there's no way to catch up to him. Aaron needs to be given that advantage also.
There are a lot of reasons why we lost the game last night. Like Yao said, this team need to rebound better. They keep giving the other teams second chance shot. I mean look at the game against the Cavs, at one time they give them like 4 or 5 possessions in one single play. Of course the other team is going to make shot eventually if you give them THAT many chances. Yao is a poor rebounder...like i say before, his hand grip on the ball is terrible ...probably the worst in the NBA. One more thing...why didn't the coach tell him to raise the hands up high in the air when he got the rebound instead of bringing it back down?? Because he's so tall, nobody is going to try to jump and swat risking of getting foul. But Yao keep bringing the ball down and getting strip as a result due to his terrible grip on the ball. This is one thing i don't understand why nobody is preaching this to him. But about the offensive rebounding. This has plagued the Kings' roster for many years too...they TOO fail to rebound and giving up way too many offensive rebound under Rick Adelman. I think what happened was Rick Adelman want the team to run or start running instead of coming back to get the defensive rebound. Like for example, Luis Scola after jumping and try to defend a 12 foot shot, he started to run pass his defender and failed to come back for the defensive rebound. As a result, his man after taking the shot able to move in the basket and get the offensive rebound. So this is not Yao's fault but more like the team's lack of effort of coming back to get the rebound.
and i'm still amazed by how little credit rocket fans are giving Derrick Rose for last night's collapse. This guy is right up there when it comes to getting by an opponent, when he wants to, heturns up the jets and blows by everyone. Hes the one that took over for them and he also had a lot of shots roll in, call it a shooter's touch or maybe luck, but he was hitting tough, off balanced shots, that kind of performance won't happen very often against Houston.
I agree. Look, all shots he took were outside bombs... gotta do better than that especially late in the game. I wouldn't mind him shooting from the post. He has to understand he is NOT a good ball handler and him handling the ball late in games is not a good idea. Again, Adelman has to make adjustments.
and on top of that Rose is backed up by a very capable starter in Hinrich, once again, this isn't going to happen very often either, two big all star capable starting pgs bothering Brooks and Lowry for 48 mins?
Maybe Ron thought he could carry the whole team on his shoulder and win the game for us all. Even though I really really like this guy (for this toughness, determination....), I would said the last 6mins of last game proves that he is not Kobe or James, and he should find some assistance for his teammate. Life would be much easier that way.
I am too dumb to notice this. Since this has been mentioned several times, can anyone give us a small video we can take a look? Thanks.
vs cleveland he got bailed out cuz yao ming hit 13 of 15 and shane and ron made lebron play like garbage,
Enough, its one game, move on...this may not have been the lakers or celtics, but the bulls are underachieving and very capable. just this month they beat denver, detroit, new orleans AND orlando. This team can play with the best of them on any given night, they just don't do it every night consistently.
