okay blame it on the guy who stepped up the whole game. true he missed those shots but who else was stepping up to try to win it. it was not just him it was the whole team. and for him to have that many possessions that meant somebody wasnt holding on to the ball enough..can you guess who that was?!!
Outright a lot of people messed up last night. I am horrified that they kept having Artest go for long range shots rather then go for overtime in that last possession, especially when Battier got that rebound at the end and was close enough to go for his own shot. He can't be that bad of a player around the basket that he couldn't hit that shot or drew a foul. I don't blame Adelman for not putting out Lowry on Rose earlier. Lowry got three fouls trying to handle Rose, he didn't seem to be doing much better then Brooks. Which is something we should expect given our PGs smaller sizes I do blame him for not using his bench at all and I wonder why Brent Barry didn't have more minutes. A pair of fresher veteran legs out there might have helped better then constantly relying on Shane and Ron, never mind constantly using Scola as backup center when we have Mutumbo wasting away on the bench.
See this is a casual fans observation. It is ok, but if that is what you think you are missing the big picture. The op is 100% on the money here. DD
It's on Ron. AB had to pass to Ron after he faided to feed Yao. As our best perimeter player, Ron have to be our playmaker to create for teanmates, at least he should attack the rim because Yao was fronted and he had the position to grab the boards.
Aaron was flustered at the end. He suddenly was super cautious in even attempting an entry pass. He drove in a couple times and either turned it over or missed the layup. Either way, just an off night. Getting smoked by Rose at the end shouldn't be a shame. Expecting him to really contain him would be foolish by the fans. Aaron has no shot at stopping him really. The rest of the team has to help.
Where was our interior defense? We allowed those clowns all these 2nd chance points and made Rose look like an All-Star. I can't believe we let those fools into our paint.
I'm glad this was against the BULLS and not against one of the teams we're fighting for playoff positioning. And I'm also glad this happened to be honest with you... it gives us a chance to address problems before playoff time. I think Rick Adelman got the hint at the end of the game and put Lowry in when it was too late. AB would be so much better if he were 10 or 15lbs more of muscle. I don't blame Ron at all because the shots he took late in the 4th are the same shots he took all game just about. One thing is certain... if Yao is being fronted last night like he was, then we have to put shooters in the game, find the guy who is open and get him to make a shot. All we needed to win last night was just 1 or 2 more shots made. Unfortunately we went into panic mode once Yao couldn't get open.
Well that and Ron jacking up shot after shot and ignoring his teamates......and thus the team only scoring 3 points in the last 6 minutes. The team would have been better off if Adelman pulled Ron and inserted Wafer, just to teach him a lesson. But, Ron is smart, I doubt he does it again. DD
There were a lot of reasons the Rox lost but give Chicago credit, their ball pressure was terrific and defense on Yao was excellent. We came up one or two plays short from winning, if Adelman and the Rox learn something about how to handle the front of Yao and breaking the pressure I'll be happy.
I never understood that last shot by Ron. What in the world was he thinking? It was like David Carr throwing it into triple coverage.
Get the ball out of Ron's hands and into AB's and let him break down his man off the dribble would be a nice start. It is a ROAD loss, for some reason players stay within themselves more at home than on the road, they try to do too much it seems. All they had to do was get it to AB, let Yao come set a pick and WHAM play off of that. Same as in the Dallas game. DD
One thing I noticed about Ron last night is the question is Ron playing for a new contract on another team or is he playing hard to be a future piece of this team.?? 2 things jumped at me. One was a fastbreak with Scola driving to the basket hard looking for a pass by Ron that never came. The look on Scola's face was sheer bewilderment. The second was after he made some 3s he would be smiling and looking at the crowd or the cameras in his little world with little acknowledgment to his teammates on the court. In the Cavs game he did the same thing after making a 3 he ran up to the broadcast booth gesturing to his former teammate reggie miller. These things add up and tell me he wants to get thru this season to showcase his production value for someone else. I think he has already made up his mind this team is not in his future plans.
Adelman ran Yao until Yao could not run any more in the first half. Had to burn a TO to get him out of the game. Sheesh, spot the big fella a minute at the end/or start of quuarters, please!
This does bug the crap out of me...play him early, rest him the last 3 minutes of the first quarter and the first 3 of the 2nd and you get Yao for 3/4ths of the game. DD
