The irony is - the more he sucks, the more minutes RA allows him to play. Was this in his contract? At what point RA will cut his minutes and shots and throw him out of the starting line up? Serously.
Well, I'm tired of posters like you who claim that "we have a very legitimate shot of making the playoffs." So what if we make the playoffs? What good does it do us if we make it only to get swept/lose to whoever we might face? We weren't supposed to be this good coming into the season anyways. Sure, we've exceeded expectations but that doesn't mean we'll win a championship this year. Forgive me for being a realist, that's the cold hard truth. I love this team but you gotta assess the situation the right way. If we have a shot to get a good draft pick in next years draft I'm all for it. I'm tired of watching us make the playoffs only to lose in the first round (with the exception of last season). It's obvious we're missing a few pieces to get into that elite level. Until we acquire those pieces, I wouldn't want to deal with the false hope that playoffs would bring.
It's not because of Lakers, it's because Ariza is given a role he is not supposed to be. He'd better play as 4th or 5th option, but he is asked to play 2nd option offensively. How about ask AB to play defensive stopper? You'd get same result. I'd be fine with Lowry shooting 3/14. but not AB's 3/14. AB does little else besides speed and shooting.
You gotta wait and see. Battier couldn't dribble as well, but he can still be very effective. Yes, Ariza needs to improve his shooting, but his ability of slashing to basket would be a lot useful than this year when Yao draws opponent's bigs away from basket. Until Rockets gets anotehr star or Yao back, it's way to early to draw conclusion on him.
RA plays him a lot minutes was just for one reason: defense. Rockets defense was absolute Zero with both Ariza/Battier on the bench.
If Yao can come back play like last year, Ariza would be a lot effective. His shots will be limited, and he won't be asked to create offense for the team. We'd have Yao from inside, AB/Lowry from outside to do that.
I still believe that Ariza will benefit IF the Rockets can land Iggy and Dalembert. I will be waiting on the good news that the Rockets have finally made the trade.
Ya'll know whats messed up? Whenever the Rockets win a game, NBA.com don't say much about it. It would say the Rockets win like somewhere in the bottom so you have to look for it. But whenever we loses, its on the front part of the website. It usually have a picture of the opponents scoring on the Rockets like tonight on Nba.com. It has a picture of Rose and the title says Bulls ground Rockets... But whenever we win even over the Spurs, they don't bother saying anything about it. It feels like the NBA and everyone else don't take the Rockets seriously when we win and when we lose, its all over the place.
Ariza was pretty much horrible tonight. The funny thing is that Bill and Matt were saying how bad of a night Ariza is having...but isn't that almost every game that Ariza goes 3-14? The Houston Rockets are lacking star power so they rely on smart and good shot selection. The Rockets cannot afford for Ariza to keep shooting 3-14 from the field. He is terrible. Rick should have him cut to the basket and Brooks, Lowry or Hayes to pass him the ball and let him try to finish at the rim. Ariza is getting worse. His FG percentage is bad. He keep on having those 4-20 nights and the bad thing is that his FT percentages is in the 60s... So he can't score from the field and he can't score from the FT line.
Forget it, it's obvious that he has no clue about what makes you fight for championships. He's telling he prefered to sign Wafer instead of him, he thinks a team full of scorers and undersized hard nosed players could compete for a ring, he's absolutely lost, a hopeless case.
LOL - I can't help it if I am right.....and you guys are wrong. Signing Wafer for 1/3 the price of Trevor would make this team better. Heck NOT signing Trevor at all would make this team better. DD
choujie, You really made me laugh. In my previous posts I gave the list of excuses fron Arza-lovers. Ok, let me add the new ones from you : Here you go - "He is given with a role that he is not used to" (Translation: He sucks) "Let Yao come back and Ariza will flourish" ((Translation: Let me buy some time because I need to invent more excuses for next season) "it's way too early to draw conclusion on him" (Translation: hey, if Lakers thought he is good, he must be good) You said, and I qoute:"AB does little else besides speed and shooting" Nobody in this board brags about AB's defence - his offense wins us games. That is not good for you? Again quoting you: "RA plays him a lot minutes was just for one reason: defense." - Gambling on every other play to get a steal is not defence - I know that, you know that too.
I've noticed this team has a difficult time guarding frontcourt players who have good outside shots, such as Brad Miller. Scola especially seems to struggle when he's matched up against the Millers and Okurs of the league. I thought Battier did the best defensive job on Miller tonight, but of course, you can't expect him to do it for an entire game.
No, you stop...tag you're it. Look, they are making crap up, I never said the team would compete for a ring with hard nosed players....SHEESH. I do say the team would be better off having never signed Trevor though, they would have had $7 million more in cap room next year.......giving them a much better chance at a top tiered free agent. Morey jumped the gun and signed Trevor too fast, it was a mistake. DD
DD, I will take Von over this "half-assed Shane Battier" aka Trevor Ariza on any day. Yes, he is a "half-assed Shane Battier".
