The only bright spot of this game was Jordan Hill's play. He matched up pretty well against the Bobcats' frontcourt. Also, this is the second game that I noticed Adelman experimenting with a small-ball lineup with Hill as center. (IIRC Hill was in with Lowry, Martin/Lee, Budinger, and Battier.) Both times were short spurts, and both times it seemed to have mixed results.
One thing i keep seeing is our guards are really bad at slowing down the other point guard on the break...maybe it's just selective memory, but it seems every time i look for it the opposing PG has an interrupted lane to the rim. There was one play where DJ took it all the way, if Battier hadn't stepped in his way to make him miss, he would have had an easy bucket. We need to do a better job at getting someone to force the PG east and west on the fastbreaks. Even a big can do it effectively, as the pg will usually just pull back on the fast break.
When shots dont fall, drive and draw fouls. Bud never does that . can we call him soft/scared? Giving excuses about shots not falling are lame. there are so many ways he can make an impact considering that he is young. he was good on the boards though
Agreed. The SF spot is our biggest hole. Shane is giving us all the numbers we don't want from him, assists and blocked shots. I know Wallace and SJax sucked out there tonight. But it was simply a case of them having off shooting nights. And it really didn't matter. Hill CANNOT defend himself. The only thing Hill can do out there defensively is hang out in the weeds and help off the ball. When he gets tied up one-on-one, he gets ate up something terrible. We gave Budinger half of Martin's shots tonight to get him going and he stunk it up......again. There's something wrong with his mechanics or his head and it needs to get fixed. We have nothing at the SF spot except Battier and Budinger. Wallace may have thrown up a 6 for 21, but he still dominated whoever defended him, whether it was Shane or somebody else, and he effectively shut down Shane and was still able to help out his mates defensively. He dominated the boards and he got to the FT line even though he shot poorly. We had no answer for him. And we had no answer for Boris Diaw either.......Boris Diaw mind you. Not Chris Bosh or Amare, but Boris Diaw. Yeah......let's play Hill more minutes. Hill is a joke guys.
Actually they need slow smart changes. Morey wants to get better without having to go backwards & it looks like he's going to get a few lotto years whether he wants them or not.
Bobcats doing their best to ruin our 2011 pick swap rights. Lost twice to the Knicks, then beat the Rockets.
Dude, Hill got toasted all night long. Our biggest problems on this team: 1. Terrible SF play 2. Nobody taller than 6'5" that can defend our interior.
Les must be pretty upset as well. This team assembled is over the luxury tax. But I might sound like a homer but when Yao and Brooks come back we will be Ok. But Martin has to go. Please Morey get rid of this guy.
This team stinks. If we had a 2005 JVG team, we'd have beaten this team tonight 85-79. Ugly but effective JVG win.
I should mention, in Martin's defense, he had at least 3 legit fouls tonight that weren't given to him. Probably a sure 6 points more. That could be the reason why he started hesitating, which he shouldnt have anyway, but the refs did screw up some tonight.
We going to go back to blaming Morey? He built a team around Yao...whose not here. No surprise this is happening.
One and only good thing about the this game is Jordan Hill's play. Given more playing time, he has the potential to be a very good post player.
I can't say that would be embarassing...MJ should get more improvement from his players after acquiring them, than Morey, because of all his greatness and experience. He's out there coaching during the game also.
