We stop playing our game when defense is aggresive. And our game is call and run our plays, cuts, movement... when they tied the game we started with the static offense, 1on1s, 2on2s, quick and bad shots... and once again we died with that. They deserved the win, played very good defense at the 2nd half and we didn't responded.
he was doubled badly by bobcats. I think he still needs more time to get used to it, learning how to kick the ball out to our perimeter guys, but I do admit that he should has been in the game instead of blacksmith. It is just such a painful to watch every little thing blacksmith did in the game. yeah, every little thing sigh. this loss is just too tough to swallow
Battier has to go. I see no use for him in this offense. All he does is sit out at the three-point line and jack up shots and he has really lost a step on defense.
Bobcats adjusted, we didn't. Loss has to fall more on coaching than the players by leaving Budinger on Captain Jack when he was on fire. Yes we needed offense, but our defense was non-existent in the second half.
Let Charlot shot 50% for the game is some bad defense. Let Jackson score 43 points is some terrible defense. Rockets played bad on both ends of the floor.
Right on point DD. Seems like starting unit needs another player that can score to start of the games and 3rd periods. Team better be ready to get a good winning streak going in the upcoming homestand.
Dak - got a few rockets games live3 downunder the last few weeks and sure I can see both their value to our D, positioning, hustle and intengibles, but I've jumped the shark on how both Chuck and Battier can be in our starting line-up, sure they may help on one end, but possibly less than the use to, but on the offensive end they are both flat out liabilities, its pretty close to 3 on 5 on offense when they are both on the floor, we just can't play both of them together anymore....
Wow, that was a dud! I have got some coaching questions on this one. You think doubling Captain Jack might have been a good idea? Did Landry really need extra bench time? I know their defense got intense, but somehow the Rockets just seemed to lose it in the third quarter and never recovered. Those half time speeches must be pretty uninspiring because this has happened several times before. In fact, this game seemed almost identical to the recent Hornet's game. Now if the Rockets start losing the "easy" games, which happened often last season, they are not good enough to recover and make the playoffs. They have to keep up the intensity, or, after tonight, recover it.
Can't forget that Aaron Brooks shot 3-14 tonight... that was a big hurdle to try to overcome. Trevor Ariza had some strong moments -- he went right around Stephen Jackson in isolation on one play -- but this really was the game-changing play. Rockets had gone down 6. Battier knocked down that big three and they were right in there. After the Jackson miss, they had a chance to tie or take the lead here. Lowry did a great job pushing the ball upcourt, but once there was no easy basket, I thought he gave it up a bit early to Ariza. You could see almost immediately Trevor was thinking shot. Ariza went the opposite direction of the pick that Lowry set. Ariza did find a path in the defense but didn't notice that Scola's man left him to stop Ariza. It would not have been an easy pass, but that did create an opportunity for Scola (that's the kind of thing we were spoiled with by T-Mac the last few years). Bullard or Worrell said that Landry asked out of the game for a breather. The team was down 4 points with 6 minutes in the fourth and the team struggling to score and a key player asked out. I thought WOW Landry, who does that? Maybe Adelman used the opportunity to teach Landry a lesson and next time Landry will suck it up.
I appreciate BimaThug's analysis on cap and how trading for this and that player would put us in LT tax. I will just say we must address the issue of a shot-blocking, rebounding center even more so than a shooting guard. I must not be the only fan who was disgusted to see how many layups Jackson got on us tonight. Layup drills against our team is becoming quite a frequent occurrence. This is alarming to me. I will just conclude this by saying that those layups would be cut by 1/2 with someone like Dalembert protecting our paint. Ok, I am ready to get flamed now.
Hopefully he will wake up before it is too late. As much as I love this team, we could easily be in the lotto if a shakeup does not happen. Insert C-Bud for a change and see how the team responds. In the one game C-Bud started, he was dynamite.
