yeah, he hits like 333 three pointers in the preseason and can't hit the side of a barn when it counted.......hope that is temporary.
Nope, not even close..... Without Portland Outlaw struggles, he gets his because of all the attention everyone else gets. If he were a 1st, 2nd, 3rd option he would struggle.......his BBall IQ is just too low. He is a nice complimentary offensive player, but nothing more. DD
We can expect more as Battier is the type of player who feeds off the best players. Now he is being forced to do more, so he is going to stink it up. On offense he is trying to hard, a few times he went ISO.
Great play in the 4th..really nice to see! We got blocked a lot of times in this game..probably because our team practices too much against our undersized forwards in the camp?
Random thoughts on a game we actually should've won: Ariza - Got beat several times gambling on D. Can hit the open shot but forces it way too much. Needs to let the game come to him and cut to the basket more. Battier - He played? Landry - Usually a beast at finishing round the rim but was the inverse of that tonight. I'll cut him some slack. Lowry - Hard nosed. Tenacious. Solid D. Love the guy. Brooks - Missed early shots, blew a late 3 that could've made things even more interesting and passed up too many opens looks down the stretch. When he was aggressive though, he looked like the creator we need. Scola - He played? Hayes - (Insert Lowry bit here). Andersen - Surprising performance. Can hit the open shot, run the pick and pop and boxed out rather well. Needs more PT. Budinger - Was a little gun shy and shot was off, but played very capable D and cut well (Ariza please take note). Pops - Well, his name is fun to say.
Yao didn't play preseason game. But, anyway, I was impressed by Andersen. Actually, I think he and Yao can play together. When Yao is back, Andersen can play PF.
role players don't show up on the road. this team is a team of role players therefore....I'm not surprised.
I thought Buc Johnson... err... I mean Ariza did about what I expected of him ~10 points and a lot of TOs because he lacks handles. Sure, we don't need Yao or McGrady.... Lotto here we come unless McGrady can pull an Arenas!
Outlaw would be a great 3rd option which is good. Normally a 1st or 2nd is all star caliber and the 3rd is not quite, but a good player. If outlaw was on the rockets team of yrs past or even gay as a 3rd option that on some nights can be higher, they wouldve been more successful. Outlaw right now is better than battier and ariza on the wing. He's a long guy that can score off the bounce from mid range and 3pt range.
Just pick them, that's how Andersen seems to get open most of the time. Budinger can move without the ball well and Brooks alone can get the defense to scramble. Just let brooks do his thing up top first to get the D moving .
Rockets got outscored by 19 points in the first half in the 6 minutes AB sat. They were +6 in the 18 minutes he played. What does that tell you? Well it told Rick Adelman, "I better play this guy the entire second half." Hence his 42 minutes.
He was forcing too much out there. He needs to stick with what he does best offensively and that's spot up shooting and little hooks in the paint.
Battier was garbage. Him and Ariza on the team, especially starting, doesn't make any sense. Getting rid of Battier has been long overdue. Ariza is cheaper, younger, more athletic, and just a better overall basketball player. Battier for Outlaw and either Fernandez or Bayless or Batum.
