In your words, Battier is garbage. So why would Portland be able to use a guy like him? Why would they trade the players you mention? List the reasons.
+/- is shared by the team to an extent. One guy or all 5 can screw up that stat. We had instances during the playoffs where it happened, and didn't always include battier.
They only said he ws struggling stamina wise. nothing about the kneee. infact the said he was pushing the knee during the drills.
I'm hoping to see a Battier trade down the road. There I said it. Please don't ban me. Battier is the god here.

Bill & Matt are Rockets employees. Have you noticed how often Morey has brought up Cook, his shooting, and surprising form lately?... Skillzlab is an advert.
Like Adelman and Morey, I like the idea of possessing 2 elite perimeter defenders. I would trade him for what you're suggesting but the Trailblazers aren't giving up Outlaw and either Fernandez, Bayless or Batum for Shane Battier.
I for one dont think his trade value is as high as some on this board, but a team like portland that has a lot of explosive offensive players, he could help them more than the rockets.
That's the second reference to a trade of shane for two of portland's promising young guys, where did this deal come from? I remember it being a rumor. It's one sided, regardless of whether shane is playing like crap or like shane... portland's guys aren't benchwarmers, those are legit nba players.. it's a 2 for 1 deal and Portland would be stupid to offer it..
Did anyone else notice that no Rockets player had more than 5 rebounds tonight? That hasn't happened in 2 full seasons plus playoffs, and has only happened 2 other times in at least the past 9 years. ESPN did not list "high rebounder" until 2001-02, so I gave up on my search...but it's possible it could go even farther back. I'm not saying that the sky is falling, but this can't be a good sign.
Tonight was sickening at best... They were getting their butts whipped on boards... We need a rebound threat... we need Yao Ming and then some. Sadly, we're going to have to watch this all season and see why height is valued in BASKETBALL.
Ok that's hard to argue with. But if you look at the individual games, at least for last year, Battier was never so far behind the rest of the team in +/- as he was tonight.
Kwame please don't start this nonsense again. If Ariza hadn't become available and houston hadn't signed him, which were both unexpected, you wouldn't have anything to stand on in this argument. It's only overdue to you because you believe player's like Ariza are available every year at costco. This is the first year shane could be replaceable since he's been here, and it's only because something unexpected happened....
In all fairness, scola is hurting and i think he's a good rebounder. Hayes amd landry are also good rebounders, but because portland is so much bigger, they spent more time bnoxing out vs tracking the ball at its highest point. I go back to the heat minus zo the first yr. During that season, they still had a top 5 drfense and were a good rebounding team despite zo being out. The rox are going to have to do the same thing, but for the most part , adelman hasn't been known as a coucg that will grind a game out.
what can you do? they say you can't teach height and that is true. it gets amplified in a game against a team like portland.
