His up and under play in the first half was Roy playing his game. This was Roy just trying anything he could muster up against a very good defense. It just so happened that everything he tried went in.
he's not, but i imagine he doesn't know roy's tendencies and game very well, i'm assuming in LA kobe guarded him most of the time.
I was hoping Rick would switch battier on Roy simply bcuz Battier is a more disciplined defensive player. It was painful to watch Ariza reaching in, that gaved Roy the advantage. Switch Battier on Roy or double him. I swear I can't take another game winner from Roy.
He did kick out the ball to Luis the previous possession which gave us the 1 point lead. Actually the night before yesterday, he did drive the lane and pulled up for a jumper then got fouled by C.J. Watson in the victory over Warriors. I thought he would drive and pop for the game winner.
It may not look wide open to you and me. But we've already seen AB making those raindrops in the middle of a crowd. He is that fast. In any case, there was so little time left on the clock at the time. A kickout pass may get deflected or mishandled. It's hard to question AB's decision on this play.
One of the Rockets advantages is having two above average defenders at the wings. Also the two play different styles of defense. If one of them gets burned play after play (ariza in this case) YOU TRY OUT THE OTHER GUY(Battier). Whats the harm is putting Battier one Roy? That he gets schooled also? Another thing is that Battier is more likely to force a jumper. So I really dont get why people are defending that decision to let Ariza stay on him. Adelman needs get his dam act together and straighten things up. When the game is close, you dont let the team run wild. That Aaron Brooks turnover was just pathetic. Why is he allowed to dribble like a dam maniac when Landry was doing so good? I'm cool with letting the players run free at times but late fourth quarters? Thats just dumb. And why doesnt he take advantage of mismatches. Battier was being guarding by Miller and Bayless at times. POST HIM UP!
It's implied when you let a player who shoots the most shots on a team continue to chuck when he's got a worse points per shot ratio than anyone on the team not named Chuck Hayes or Brian Cook. The only player who shoots a worse FG percentage on the team is Jermaine Taylor, who has played a total of 5 NBA games (although to be fair, his sister thinks he's a superstar)
He is fantastic in recovery, but tonight, he was able to guard Roy in a way few players can, and that's playing up on him and invading his space, forcing him to put the ball on the floor and create a much more difficult shot while STILL having the ability to challenge and body up on the release. Moe
love him to do that despite he's a homer. I saw the stat disparity of free throw attempts throughout three quarters, 24 to 7, I mean, we didn't attack the rim aggressively enough to absorb the contact and draw the foul? Are you kidding me?
I thought Ariza guarded the play where Roy hit the jump shot extremely well. I remember thinking that he did a better job than Battier might have been able to. However on the last play, Ariza short of tried to go for a steal instead of making the shot tougher for Roy. At this point I thought Battier would not have gambled in that situation. Well you cannot have it both ways so I would say it evened out.
Its not a bad at all; loss = higher pick. We all know Rockets need a good high late 10's, early 20's pick. Morey has been working with second rounders; can't wait for him to pick with a borderline lotto pick.
In RA's motion offense, whoever is open will take the shot. I don't think they set up plays to get Ariza shots. Once we get our stars back, Ariza will be a far more efficient scorer much like his Laker days.
ariza's d on roy was ok. but i'd like to see a hard double on roy and force him to pass tha ball. they didn't have much time left.
although i agree with this i still think you don't let him go center in the first place..which he did both times
