Let me go ahead and clear this up for everyone before we get 1,000 posts asking why Ariza was on Roy at the end. You can't evaluate defense in practice. This is a developmental year. Adelman was simply evaluating how well Ariza does on defense in crunch time. He didn't do as well as we would have liked. As for Brooks coming in, same reason. Aaron will be our starting point guard next season when Yao comes back, so Adelman put him back in towards the end of the fourth to give Aaron, our starting point guards for at least the next few years, some time to experience a close game.
I know saying anything bad about Chuck Hayes is basically outlawed here, but I must ask what he was thinking on Portland's last possession when he was attempting to take a charge when Roy drove in? It was nearly a circus shot, but I still believe actually jumping up and outstretching his arms would've made the shot impossible for Roy to get off.
i wouldnt assume they just swalled their whistles, sometimes it's tough to see when a player drives into traffic at that speed, it's better not to assume if they don't see it....i blame houston for thinking they'd get call, which is what i'm assuming they were going for, they'd be crazy to think brooks would get an open look in the paint when he was being harassed by Blake all game..
I agree with the Ariza on Roy, but brooks wasnt playing horrible, just not great.....Lowry wasnt doing anything special....
bad play by AB on the last possession. Scola was wide open, and Landry was free as he has 3 players commit to him. Enough time for a good pass and better finish. He will learn though. Great team effort
I think you been sniffing too much glue. I have never seen AB pull of a clutchshot in my life, at least not against any of the good teams.
Unfortunately with 3 sec left we didn't have time to get a shot from Scolandry. A guard has to take those shots...Aaron is too short to shoot over anyone and Ariza is just, well Ariza. Tbh, we probably should have lost this game by 6 or so. Landry just beasted it up at the end and kept us in it when we probably didn't deserve to after 2 or 3 broken down plays in a row.
We got out-talented. Roy and Miller kept hitting BS shots on us. We missed free throws and Miller hit two threes. That's why we lost. Everything else we did right. Hate this loss.
He's not fast enough to stay in front of roy, shane isn't either, but he's got better footwork....my biggest problem on the last play was they failed to contest the shot, hayes sort of stood there, maybe afraid to foul accidently, but roy brought the ball right to his eye level before flipping it up..
The worst part was my grandma could have told you Portland was going to go for Roy for a shot no matter what.
