We could be witnessing something very special here, it seems week to week the defense is getting even better. Honestly I started feeling sorry for the Bucs there was a stretch where they turned it over repeatedly and it looked like their offense just wanted to hit the showers with about 10 minutes left. Everyone knows a strong running game and great D wins games and championships and this is what we have in spades. I would not be at all surprised to see a 6-0 curbstomping but I will go with 4-2.
Tennessee is also over .500 so its two teams. (5-4) and Pittsburgh same defense win against Patriots. And when Cincinnatti played against a good defense they lose (SF and Pittsburgh) wins against Seattle, Jax, Titans, Browns, Colts, Buffalo and one lost against Denver, so Cincy havent really beaten one GOOD team. Atlanta is the same, the only good defense they have won against is Detroit, they lost against Chicago, Green Bay (good defenses) and lost against Tampa Bay (who Texans destroyed).
LOL! So you're just gonna ignore the fact that our defense is ranked number 1 in the NFL and our offense is ranked 3rd? You're gonna ignore the fact that we obliterated the under .500 teams we've beaten? Ignore the fact the we have the best rushing combo in the league? Ignore the fact that Cincy is without they're star cornerback? Ignore the fact that Andre Johnson is coming back?
W Jacksonville W Atlanta W Cincinnati W Carolina W Indianapolis L Tennessee Only loss comes against the Titans because we're resting key players for the playoffs after having clinched the conference.
The thing I love the most about this season, is the drama it has played out with. I hate to say it, but I do. If this team has had fans jump off the bandwagon in the past, I truly believe that they are all back aboard, and then some. Fans should be firmly entrenched in rooting for the Texans as their favorite team from here on out (I know, a lot of us already did that). I love that this team is playing so well despite all of the adversity it has faced. I know, I know, we haven't seen how Leinart will do. But I love that we've been playing the way we have while missing Mario, Andre, Foster for a bit, Manning for a few games, and even early in the season, Ward and Tate for a bit. Not to mention the good special teamers we've been missing. What that shows me is that the players on this team have absolutely bought into everything that's being taught to them (on both sides of the ball), and they love going out there and putting it all on the line for their coaches. In the past, I think everyone bought into Kubiak's system, but I don't think our defense has ever really bought into a defensive system, and that's what has been the best thing. I think, that's why we've had all the talent that we've had, but have been unable to really put a good defense together. Well, that and poor coaching. I love the fact that because this team is playing so well, and fully trusts their coaches, they have a belief that they are actually a good football team. I think this has gone a long way in changing the culture around the clubhouse. I think this is why they are not playing down to opponents. They know that they are better than just about every team they face this season, and they go out there wanting to prove that, and not just by a little bit. It's exciting to watch. I love the fact that, while they're not getting any younger, most of our key pieces still have time left in their careers. Most of our key players, off the top of my head, are between 25 and 30. A lot of them trend towards the lower end of that scale, too. I think this team can be great in the future, as well as this season. I would be totally happy if we made the playoffs despite the adversity we've faced, and I would be ecstatic if we won a game of more. While it'd be disappointing not to make a run, based off of how promising this year has looked, this season could totally be that one year that this team has needed to make the jump that everyone has been looking for it to make. Last year was the first time I really called for Kubiak's head. I disagreed with the move to bring Wade in, mostly because I thought, 'great, when people start calling for Kubiak's head, we'll have to deal with Wade Phillips as our head coach.' In reality, Phillip's has been exactly what this team needed, and Bob Mcnair deserves credit for looking around the league at what works, and following suit. The thing I love the most about this team is this: We have managed to out-Peyton the Colts. At the beginning of the year, everyone said that the Texans would win the division because Peyton's out. Well, guess what, Indy? The Texans have had the majority of their key players miss at least one game this season, and now their quarterback, and arguably best defensive player are out for the season. There's no way we lose out without these people. You want to know why? Because Houston has actually built a credible team that doesn't just rely on one of the greatest players to ever play the game (hate you Peyton). Through decent drafting, good coaching, and now, good free agent signings, Houston has built a far more complete team than you, and now you're going to have to sit back and watch us take control of this division, without your excuse that it was solely because Peyton Manning was hurt. And F**k you, I know it took ten years.
great post EddieWasSnubbed ! - Love the passion . .. I am thinking a record range-wise of 4-2 up to 6-0 - most likely a 12-4 season...and I believe AFC championship game before exit
Perhaps I'm pessimistic, but I'm thinking it's going to be 2-4. Leinart isn't Schaub, and our passing game is going to suffer for it. Which means defenses can zero-in on our running game. @ JAX - L ATL - L @ CIN - L CAR - W @IND - W TEN - L All things considered, 9-7 is pretty amazing considering all the injuries the team has sustained this season. I don't give the bulk of the credit to Kubiak for that, but rather to the defense and Wade Phillips. Still, I think the coaching staff has done very, very well (Kubes included).
I remember hearing the same thing when Johnson went out; 'our pass game will suffer and opponents will just stop the run'. It didn't work then and it won't work now. We will be fine. 5-1 the rest of the way
Our defense didn't get worse. As far as the Jags, how many points do the think the #32 ranked offense will score on the #1 ranked defense?
This was my original thinking too, but I wonder if we're worrying too much here. The running game has been so good this year, I wonder if anyone left on the schedule can stop it at all - whether or not they're zeroed in on it. And if they DO zero in on it, that means they'll have to cover AJ and OD one-on-one. Plus, lately Foster has been more dangerous catching the ball than running it.
True, but there's a big difference between losing one receiver (even one as great as AJ) and your QB. Understand: I hope I'm wrong. I'd be giddy with 6-0. But I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic.
Anything else than 6-0 and the Superbowl blowout and Kubiak has to go. Here is what will likely happen ... @ Jacksonville - L Atlanta - L @ Cincinnati - L Carolina - W @ Indianapolis - W Tennessee - L Tennessee would be a W if Schaub plays. Kubiak can start packing his bags now.
I think you could place anyone in at QB and we'd beat the Jags and Colts so I guarantee 2-4. Leinart is still capable of moving his feet and creating plays so I think he is very capable of beating the Panthers and Titans, although they can't let Cam get an early lead, and we may not even need to beat the Titans by that point. As for the Bengals and Falcons, I think they are both a toss up. I can see Leinart beating one and losing to the other while both games are close. I think Dalton is going to get beat up too much over the next few weeks from their insane schedule so he will be shaking back there while Reed is running at him, and there will be too much pressure on the Rookie QB because he will have to win to keep playoff chances alive. He doesn't have the luxury of two amazing RBs like Leinart does. Jags W ATL L CIN W CAR W IND W TEN L Because we are resting
