Don't go back to Iraq. I'm a conservative voice saying this. I say this because as it turns out, the jihadi's are right. The United States as a country and people don't have the stomach for it. And as long as that is the case, we will never be able to do what needs to be done to REALLY finish this war. We certainly COULD do it if we were committed to it....but we aren't and probably never will be. So don't go back. I mean, if the people that live there don't have the stomach and will to fight for their own homeland, we sure as hell shouldn't do it for them.
What does finishing the war look like exactly? Just curious. I find the status quo just fine. The Iranians, Iraqis, and Saudis are all fighting against ISIS and no American troops are getting killed. Sounds good to me. This whole thing that we need to get involved is just dumb. Let them figure it out. It's their land and ultimately their problem.
Finishing it would be Total War...akin to what happened in WWII. And then keeping a presence there for decades afterwords...also like we did in WWII. Keep in mind, I'm not advocating this. Just saying what it would take to "finish" this once and for all.
